I suggest you change your name from britvic to single malt. You've obviously had plenty of that if you think we were the better team. We were absolutely shite and have been all season.

Neil thinks we were slightly better than them.

Neil is obviously delusional as well. I would have more respect if he came out and said what most of us can see, we are absolutely rudderless, no shape, shit players, shit atmosphere, a total mess of a club.

We weren't better. They never really got out of first gear and ground out a win. Sign of a winning team.

Burnley did some really slick passing but created almost nothing compared to our disallowed goal, Fox missing from 6 yards, Campbell almost scoring & if - as Shawcross said in commentary yesterday - Brown & Campbell had shown more bravery could both have got to the ball first before their keeper to have an open goal.
They passed the ball better but the main reason they won was that they were fitter, stronger & showed more determination, we faded after 60 minutes & couldn't really keep up the pressure which forced their mistakes.
Positives: looked good for 60 minutes, think Campbell is getting back to his previous high standards, Delap had a decent cameo, some decent set pieces, defence looked really solid apart from 1 mad moment which cost the goal.
Negatives: Our midfield had zero impact offensively & showed no bravery on the ball, team looked way off the pace last 30 minutes

It's symptomatic for a team low on confidence and in a rut, play well for an hour, miss a few chances that we should be taking and having the one we did stick away ruled out for a dubious reason - then concede a comedy goal that should have been dealt with with a foot in before we allowed the situation to unfold - then react to that adversity by completely losing any semblance of organisation or shape, allowing Burnley to see out the game without too much fuss.
We need to be looking at individuals in there to be taking leadership and accountability by dealing with situations behind the ball at root, and looking to be more positive and proactive when in possession or pressing high up the pitch - there were chances to be had by pressing that keeper and the centre Half's even after their goal, but we just folded and gave up, heads went down, no one talked and we became a shapeless mess. Hopefully we will bring in players who, as well as providing what we lack in key areas (Keeper, ball winning midfielder, winger, Striker and another Centre half), can also bring leadership and communication to the group, which we lack.

'Better' is probably the wrong word, 'more effective' is a more apt way of describing the game. For 60 minutes we totally negated their tactics. We stopped them from playing their possession game effectively and forced them to make mistakes which we should have taken advantage of at least once. Until they scored, the only time they came near to threatening our goal was from an unforced awful back pass from Wilmot which Fox, whether legitimately or not (and the ref thought it was) snuffed out. That wasn't just Burnley playing badly it was Stoke making them play badly.
I agree though that that is the difference between good and bad teams in this division. Good teams win when second best, bad teams are regularly the better team but lose mainly because of confidence/lack of. We've been doing that for a while. Yesterday despite Burnley looking no better than Stoke you got the impression they and their fans were confident they would score and win.
