Whilst I hope Coventry sort out their long running issues, they can't keep being allowed to cancel home games like they were at the start of the season because of a dodgy pitch.
They need to find an alternative ground sharpish or start forfeiting games...............

Meanwhile in Bristol, the local sad acts are composing emails to be sent to the EFL with immediate effect.

Stone-hearted ghouls like Mike Ashley should never have such control over peoples' lives and well-being. Football illustrates this to us all nicely but the same is true of the world's economy in general. The selfish, the greedy and the amoral run the world. Merry Christmas.

It begs the question if Ashley goes through with the eviction what does he intend doing with an empty stadium.

Ghouls is a great word if used in moderation. Reminds me of The Smiths lyric: ‘belligerent ghouls run Manchester schools’.

Poor old Coventry. Just as they seem to be pulling themselves back up to where they probably feel they belong, they get Mike Ashley as a landlord.

Ashley will no doubt be wanting a new agreement that sees a rent increase Reading all the info it sounds to me that during negotiations to buy the ground Fraser group had offered CCFC a new contract mirroring the terms and conditions they currently had. CCFC failed to sign the contract offered prior to him taking over, hence he (Ashley / Fraser group) have removed the offered one and sent them a new one which they must sign to be able play at the Arena. CCFC are now angered that the new contract was presented without any dialogue or negotiations and was less favourable to the Football Club. In addition, this licence would only run until May 2023. They have put themselves in this postion by not signing the original contact offered,Its there own stupid fault.

Having asked an FSA colleague to clarify, this is his reply
1. The Arena was held on a 250 year lease from Coventry Council by ACL, a company wholly owned by Wasps.
2. After Wasps administration they applied to the High Court to put ACL into admin. A court date was set.
3. Confidential talks started with various possible buyers for ACL out of the anticipated admin. CCFC were not one of those but Ashley was. Ashley denied interest in buying CCFC.
4. He obtained preferred bidder status, after paying a 7 figure sum to keep the stadium open until the court hearing.
5. The night before the court hearing SISU announced they had agreed to sell 85% of CCFC to “local businessman” Doug King. He is local in the sense that he lives in Stratford and owns an oilseed rape business there but is mostly a hedge fund guy, like SISU, whose business address is the same as theirs. His purchase still subject to EFL approval. He said he would be making a “robust” bid to buy ACL.
6. At the court hearing the judge approved the admin and Ashley’s purchase of the arena for £17m. He dismissed King’s bid of £25m as too rough, lacking due diligence, not in the creditors’ best interests.
7. Ashley has completed purchase of ACL.
8. Another “businessman” William Storey, with a very dodgy track record, claimed that he had an exclusivity agreement with SISU to buy CCFC, which the King deal breached. Intends to go to court.
9. Today, press report that Ashley has given CCFC notice that he is terminating the former deal between ACL in Wasps era and CCFC for use of the Arena. Despite loose language in press the deal was not a lease but a simple contract to use arena on matchdays. None of the security of tenure a lease would give but exact wording unknown.
10. Ashley says he wants to renegotiate terms with CCFC. No-one really knows what he intends but it seems he is playing hardball to try to gazzump King and buy CCFC “on the cheap.”

This could be a blessing in disguise in the longterm? Maybe they can build a new ground and maybe (and it's a big maybe) they can build something that is designed prioritising supporter culture/matchday experience, and isn't just a big bland identikit on a desolate retail park.

I understand that when Coventry sold high field road they suffered relegations and the sale proceeds soon went. Their gate receipts were then paying the rent on the Ricoh. This wasn’t enough so catering and merchandising then went to help with rent. They basically didn’t have a pot to piss in.
As far as Ashley is concerned, hasn’t he stepped away from the business and his son in law runs it.
I know there’s a lot of negativity towards Ashley but he has saved a number of high street brands which otherwise would have gone bump, house of grazer, jack wills, flannels, evans to name just four.
If the Coates ever wanted out, I’d welcome Ashley with open arms.

Ashley is a hard nosed business man. So, if Ashley came to Stoke, do you think he would show up for anything other than a quick profit?
