He hasn’t change the formation, the desire, the attitude, attacking potential and our defensive capabilities.
This is not just down to MON

It isn’t though.
It is valid to say that.
Does that mean Neil isn’t failing or should avoid any culpability? Absolutely not. But he has inherited a mess. I think we have good players but they’re not performing and are hard to arrange into anything coherent.
We need a viable goalkeeper. We don’t have one.
We still, somehow, don’t have a viable midfield. Baker needs dropping. Laurent has been a letdown. Smallbone has been a disaster.
Likewise up front, Campbell looks shot. Brown is in wretched form. Delap again hasn’t worked out. Gayle was a totally unnecessary signing.
Personally I think Tymon is confusing the issue. We’re playing a back three because it suits him but basically nobody else. He’s become a very important player but his presence is tempting managers to stick with a failing system. Cash in, strengthen for a 4-2-3-1, go from there.

The only thing I could criticise Neil for is his continued selection of Bursik and Smallbone. Most games we are starting with 10 men and gifting at least one goal. That's hard to live with.
Anyway, something had to give with MON. Can anyone honestly say they could see signs of a bright future with him? We had to agitate things one way or another and time will tell if Neil was the right man. I personally think he is... he's just got an absolute pile of dog shit to work with.

MON reduced the wage bill, but replaced it with cheap as chips alternatives that just haven't been up to the grade. We haven't had the new manager bounce we wanted because the quality just isn't there in the right areas. We are going to need a total rebuild from back to front to achieve anything in this league.

It is not AN's team.
But he should be doing a damn sight better with the players that he has at his disposal.
I am not saying that our squad is perfect - far from it - but we are in a situation now where if we lose our next couple of games we are going to find ourselves in the bottom three going into the World Cup break.
We seem to be getting progressively worse. There is no style of play, we chop and change formation, and we have a forward line who seem incapable of scoring goals.
AN needs to pull a plan together and he needs one hell of a January window, or else we might end up playing League One football next season.

Not only is it not his team, they aren't his type of players. He has always been a high tempo, thunderbastard type manager and a master of the dark arts.
Whilst the squad is unbalanced in areas, it also isn't his style of squad.
The fact he was celebrating Jordan Thompson's technical fouls the other night is not only embarrassing, but also telling.

Give the guy a full transfer window and a season and then judge him. Putting him under this much pressure so early doesn't help anyone.

Whilst not particularly arguing with any of the points you raise about what he has to deal with isn’t this why you double your salary when taking on a new job? You are supposed to be able to get better out of a group of players - and I know this lot ain’t the best but frankly it shouldn’t be beyond the wit of a quality football manager to organise something better than what they currently dish up at home.

It's a fact though. It isn't Neil's team and until he has his own perssonel in then it will stay that way.
What it shouldn't be though is an excuse.
When Michael O'Neil took over we were bottom of the league and it wasn't his team. But he adapted the team and moved us up the table.
Same goes for Steve Cooper at Forest last season who took over a Forest squad in the relegation zone and got them playing.
So I still think it's a fair remark to make and something we should acknowledge. But with that said I don't think it's a valid excuse everytime we lose.
It feels in some quarters the manager can do no wrong. It's very frustrating at the moment but all we can do is ride out the next few games and hopefully come December/Jan with a bit more time on the training pitch we will begin to see improvements. Should also acknowledge we've been unlucky in a few games and with injuries also.

MON had no alternative to bring in young inexperienced, out of contract players, free agents and several budget purchases. That’s the reality of the mismanagement of the club employing Rowett and financing his colour grey football. AN as was MON is facing the reality of the lack of experience, quality and injuries, however saying that I can’t understand the lack of ability to create a foundation by not losing and then build on a well drilled defensive core. We’ll absolutely see new squad come August next year. The same mantra of patience required will be the order of the day. Personally I’m getting impatient

This is not just down to MON Other managers can go in and make do with what they have. He has a huge squad and managed to completely screw them up. It is his team, he happily came in knowing well what he had to work with and taken them backwards. I agree, worst excuse in the world. He's the bloody manager and can't do his job.

We were playing a back 3 when he was out injured, so I don't know how he was confusing things then. We have done much better playing a back 4 so it just seems stupid to alter it. All our main injured players,(Tymon, Jags, Powell) apart from Souttar, are back and I think it is foolish and unfair to depend on a young player out for a year to carry the side on his back. I fear that AN may have lost the dressing room, as I can't name even one player who is playing better than he did under MON, even tho' we are playing the same system. I could name a few who are playing worse than they were. I hope I am wrong about that. We just have to hope that things will improve. Whether that is by selling and buying a few players or stumbling on a system that works for us. We need to keep getting the odd win or the pressure will prove too great. It is hard to believe that there aren't at least 3 teams worse than us in the league. If there are, then AN will have the opportunity to improve the squad in June and fashion a side that he is happy with. I must admit that I am very worried and can't help but feel that we are going backwards.
