A report came out recently that deaths in Scotland are 11% above average for this time of year and have been above the average for the past 26 weeks. But it seems this is not unique to Scotland and the figures are quite startling. In England and Wales for 14 of the past 15 weeks, there have been around 1,000 extra deaths each week, (none of which are due to covid) In Europe it is similar in Germany, Netherlands significant increases in non-Covid related deaths. In the USA huge increases in non-Covid deaths 180,000 above average non-Covid deaths in the year 20-21. The interesting thing about these excess deaths is that the death rate should be actually going down (or below average) now because Covid accelerated alot of people's deaths, so many people who would be expected to die now have already passed away. Prof Carl Heneghan, director of the Centre for Evidence Based Medicine, Oxford University states that "excess deaths began to increase noticeably from around the end of April. They have stayed high compared with the past seven years. The signals in the data suggest something is not quite right.Sustained rises in deaths should trigger an investigation, that may involve accessing the raw data on death certificates, a random sample of medical notes, or analysing autopsies." The Scottish Government is the only one so far to have committed to a review of this data. Excess deaths of humanity gives the planet a chance of recuperating.
Less humans means less pollution, less plastic waste, less wars, less extinction of species, less strain on natural resource.
Lets face it as a species we're doing our best to turn the place into a hollow husk devoid of anything.

I wouldn’t put too much faith in the Scottish Government committing to have a review.
Take the Tram Inquiry for example.
We learned this week that the inquiry, launched 8 years ago, looking at why there was a 5 year delay in delivering a significantly shortened route at twice the original budget for a tram service in Edinburgh, is now taking longer to deliver than the much delayed tram itself. It’s also costing more than the Chilcot inquiry into the Iran war.
Oh dear.
Still, it’s keeping some people in not-so-gainful employment.

Imperial College now have a global reputation for making provable wrong claims based on modelling and they appear to want to bolster that reputation. Previous harm caused by Imperial include Neil Ferguson’s models in 2001 that led to the culling of 6 million cattle and sheep allegedly to prevent spread of foot and mouth disease which cost the UK economy £10bn. Subsequent predictions have included 50,000-150,000 deaths in humans in 2002 due to CJD because of the BSE outbreak (there were 177 deaths), 200 million deaths from bird flu in 2005 worldwide (there were 78); 65,000 deaths from Swine flu in UK in 2009 (there were 457).
Although this was not Neil Ferguson’s work, this latest model from Imperial college is also out by orders of magnitude. Modelling is nothing by glorified guessing based on extrapolating from assumptions of the authors’ choosing. The assumptions were so wild in the latest attempt that they reached the absurd fantasy of 20 million lives having been saved. It is almost not worth wasting time on it but given the coverage it has had on mainstream media, it needs to be addressed.
Let’s take a look at what that would mean.....

There are really only two explanations left:
Deaths by date of occurrence have genuinely fallen to historically record lows and the registration data is somehow being bulked out by deaths in Wales and the 20% of the English population not in the ONS sample or from a lag in processing or
The ONS have not included all the deaths they should have in their data[/b] The data they were using was up to 8th June at that point so approx 12 weeks ago.

About 1,500 excess deaths were attributed to the heat that week in July. These increases in deaths are also consistent across all age groups which is also unusual, so this 10% increase that we are seeing is about the same for the age group 21-35 as it is for 65-80. Its also over 4 months so the heatwave in July hasn't had much impact on the rise. This seems plausible but how does it account for 10% increases in (non-Covid) death rate across Europe and the USA? Is there any socio-economic data on the increased death rate (sorry if already addressed, I'm having one of those days when not all tweets are loading)? I suspect the inextricable march further to right wing neo liberal economics in the Western World and the inevitable inequity that brings has intensified and will be a contributory factor. |

This trend in excess deaths across all age groups in the UK is continuing. It's quite alarming. In the USA it's huge but has been going on over the last eighteenth months and accelerated over the last year.
Only a low percentage of these are Covid related.
No interest in MSM yet when only 2 or 3 people were dying of Covid the country was brought to a stop, this is thousands of excess deaths we are talking about with no investigations going on!!!

I got the new US CDC data. During COVID there was a big difference between Biden and Trump states, here are weekly excess deaths per state coloured by their 2020 election vote:  The surprise first wave smashed east coast cities in New York, New Jersey etc, so there's a big blue spike. Then the later waves generally hit Trump-voting places harder - the big exception was Arizona and its Trump-loving governor. The pattern is clear for the average across strong (5%+ vote margin) Trump or Biden states:  Recently there are excess deaths in most states at a pretty constant level. About 75 % below the average COVID peak and ~25 times smaller than peak death rates in New York before people started trying to slow down the virus. These new excess deaths looks really consistent and unlike during COVID waves the extra deaths don't obviously depend on state politices. What about total deaths since the start of COVID?  So it doesn't seem to correlate with how many people died during COVID either. I think there's a real increase in excess deaths across the US. Causes tbd. |

A quick comparison of the board from 2019 for similar time of year (pages 122-124) to pages 1-3 there are 2 vs 13 RIP threads.
Are excess deaths at 16% responsible for this? or is it a coincidence?

Just an observation. Let's not forget that 70-80 years ago there was a rapid increase in the birth rate (baby boomers) which in turn lead to a global population boom. The obvious and natural outcome is an increase in the death rate which will have been rising for a few years now I suspect. This could explain why so many in that age group are suddenly popping off in high numbers. |

I just looked up the total excess deaths in US states from April-Nov 2022. If the vaccines were the single most important thing that explained everything, then wouldn't you expect more deaths where more people are vaccinated, instead of the opposite? There were more excess deaths in the least-vaccinated 5 states compared with the most vaccinated. The most vaccinated state is Rhode Island, where there were fewer deaths than normal. IMO a reasonable guess is that the vaccines helped reduce hospital overload and avoided some long COVID but the pandemic effects are still hurting people. COVID damaged lungs and hearts of survivors, or people lost loved ones or jobs, drank a lot or skipped medical checks. Plus hospitals were overloaded and now staff are burnt out. |
