I have often supported MON on here and truly believe he has assembled a squad capable of doing well in this division, maybe even getting to Top 6 with one or two key additions. Watching on Saturday it became blindingly obvious that the players are too scared to play. That can surely only come from the manager's over cautious approach? You put young lads into a side and expect them to make a few mistakes, but you also expect them to play without fear, express themselves and "have a go". Poor Matt Tom Sparrow looked like he was going to mess himself every time he go the ball, too scared to try anything he simply passed back inside. It wasn't just the youngsters though. Laurent had a great chance to shoot from just inside the box but chose, inexplicably, to pass out to the right. All day long our approach work was tentative and far too easy for Huddersfield to manage. I said when we equalised that the game would hinge on MON's substitutions, both in terms of "who and when", I was hoping for attacking options as soon as possible, to capitalise on the bit of momentum we had, and take advantage of their players losing confidence due to the poor start they had to the season...it didn't happen though (quick enough) and we ended up chasing the game again with its highly predictable consequences So, come on Michael, you have some excellent players, for everyone's sake PLEASE LET THEM PLAY! They will win more than they lose (although maybe not with Flint at CB )

Not going to happen unfortunately with this manager. He will always put safety first and continue to manage like he’s managing Northern Ireland and we’re the underdogs in games grinding out enough points to stay mid table. Sad but true. Needs to go and a new fresh bold approach is desperately needed.

Not sure what they are afraid of. It's not like the manager is the sort who would get in the showers with them is he. I think they need some fear instilled in them.... the fear of defeat for a start and how big a part they play in it. Too many amble along, not doing their jobs right on too many occasions and this is throughout the squad. What are the repercussions if they continue messing up as they do, doesn't seem to be any to me.

Managers taking their anger and frustration out on employees and clubs turning a blind eye. I really don’t know why anyone thinks it’s either possible or desirable in this day and age.

We come on here telling O'Niell he needs to do this & do that, but it's realy a waste of time, he ain't going to change, he is fixated with this bloody 5 at the back, to the extent he would put a 15yr. Old in the 11 just so he can play his back 5.

If he'd been played at 15, he might have played in his proper position, because no one at the time had entertained the bright idea that he was a rwb in the making.

If anybody thinks slaughtering young lads is good for them or us then it’s a sad sad place to be in and counter productive beyond belief
Every time a young lad makes a mistake he gets his own thread on here and reemed left right and fucking centre
These lads aren’t seasoned professionals they are kids starting out trying to create a career and do their best for SCFC
Encourage them ffs not slaughter them

In my opinion this was pretty much evident from day one under his management, yes there’s been the odd and I mean odd game where I think the shackles have been released only to firmly revert back to his pathetic norm a matter of days after.
I’ve said on countless occasions there’s not a lot to fear in the Championship but Christ the blokes so negative in his set ups, criminal management of the highest order.
Why persist with something that doesn’t work or embarrassingly opposing managers know days before how we’ll set up and how to easily beat us.
Hand on heart any team in this league can easily beat us
I’ve never bought into this bloke as its as obvious as the days long he’s totally, totally out of his depth.
I’d have Lambert back over him any day

Its turning out to be another groudhog day start to the season. Indifferent starts seem to be the norm. A poor pre season, its win, lose, lose, draw, win type of season I’m affraid, and nothing will change. You don’t need a crystal ball to see that we are not going anywhere. Ok the season has only just started and there were some signs of hope against a resilient Blackpool team, but all in all its same old stuff. I commend loyalty shown by the owners by sticking with MON but it needs a bold approach and some more to get this team to a standard where they are competing week in and week out showing a level of consistency that has been missing for several seasons. Supporters, especially the away ones deserve more.

Now that we have amassed 10 new signings you should expect things to get worse - at first.
Then afterwards when they know who everybody is (who knows when exactly) you'll have to prepare yourself for the possibility that they get better, but that's no guarantee.
I don't know what to make of the figure of 10 new players. Instinctively I think it's madness, but since I hardly know anything about the majority of them, I can't really say anything for certain.

I don't really buy this " you have to give the new signings time to bed in " sorry. Forest had 8 debutants yesterday but it still looked like they knew what they were doing. God forbid they should use the 5 days a week ( or however many it is ) when they train for the players to get used to one another. Again it's just something else that points to the manager and coaches.

The quality and match intelligence of the Forest newbies are several cuts above the youngish lads we've signed, some of who hadn't really established themselves in the first teams at their previous clubs. They're going to be works in progress, some will be inspired by the O'Neill touch, some might need longer, some could be more miss than hit. There's just some automatisms and ground rules that you learn in a team that won't be learned by training non stop in academy teams or making the odd 2-minute sub appearence.

Taylor and Clarke have both been out on loan and played games for Bristol Rovers and Oldham, league 2 I'll grant you but experience nonetheless of competitive men's ( am I allowed to say that ? ) football. Sparrow fair enough ,though he was hung out to dry by the manager. Kilkenny fuck knows ,as the manager would rather give Clucas minutes on the pitch.

I’d have Lambert back over him any day You want us to be relegated again? Actually I don't blame Lambert for getting us relegated when he did. The team was not in the bottom three but we belonged there. He inherited a massive amount of internal problems. If we hadn't been relegated then we would have been the next season. He wasn't able to turn around the ship in the sinking tide. Very few would have been. But as far as wanting him back here, I don't think that would be a good idea. He wouldn't be coming back to a previous success, which wouldve given him a great deal of goodwill. He wouldn't be coming from a current club where he's been really successful.

I've taken the tack to wait until ten games into the season before casting stones. It's still early, the squad is still figuring things out and I currently have patience. That said, I expect I'll be having that same old feeling again a couple months from now.

I think he has a real chance of being a good Premier League player. Maybe, but he would need to become a regular here first. O'Neill's method, as we know, is to build young players up slowly. Very slowly. He could be getting regular action in a couple of years.

Not going to happen unfortunately with this manager. He will always put safety first and continue to manage like he’s managing Northern Ireland and we’re the underdogs in games grinding out enough points to stay mid table. Sad but true. Needs to go and a new fresh bold approach is desperately needed. I really don't get this idea that O'Neill is a safety first manager. We try to play possession based football, try to take the game to the opposition, the shape on the pitch is more often than not is 352 rather than 532 and we certainly don't sit back and try to hit teams on the break. We don't always execute the game plan that well (in particular we're a bit ponderous, the midfield aren't picking the runs of the attackers and we are prone to stupid mistakes at the back) but the intent is to go out to win games rather than have a safety first approach. W don't need a different game plan we just need to do what we are trying to do better
