We agreed the Pesch deal weeks before and he was costing us money to keep him as publicised after. We had a payment per goal deal which could have taken his free to I've 750k . He couldn't put money he didn't have into the club There's no excuses in my view, he didn't back the manager. I know how gutted the manager was at this as I spoke to him and heard this first hand. Coates was a complete failure as a chairman in his first spell and was concerned only with selling players against his managers wishes. Don't know how a stoke fan can come on here and think that in those circumstances during that season it was a good idea to sell pesch It didn’t really matter. Pesch was a reasonably good little player but he wasn’t any where near the team at that stage. Sheron and Sturridge were our front two and playing superbly.

The John Gayle 'signing on fee'? As have mentioned many times before, was in Rob's office all deadline day pretty much all day on a matter and a deal fell through thanks to our hard done manager

The team that edged us in the play offs spent money on players just before the play offs, meanwhile we were short sighted, negative, and were looking to sell. It's the same attitude that sees you turn your nose up at spending a couple of extra million on Harry Maguire when you can sign Kevin Wimmer. It ends in failure every time

It ends in failure every time There's a reason a manager left us at an odd time but for another day. We weren't looking to sell anybody, quite the opposite but a certain agent would play ball with a certain person .... The club looked the bad guys as a result
