Staying out in Aylesbury tonight for work.
As i parked up i noticed a rather sad rusty floodlight poking through overgrown trees and bushes and decided to have a wander over the road to see what it was and found a dilapidated overgrown football stadium.
Apparently it was Aylesbury Uniteds ground and they got kicked out in 2006 and now play in chesham, some 15 miles away.
Seems quite sad that its in this state when the towns football team has been exiled so far away.
The only other time I've seen a rundown ground was in wellingborough when the team folded but it has since been reopening with a phoenix club.
Has anyone else seen anything similar on their travels.

Google map search Cathkin Park in Glasgow and see if you can spot the terraces under the trees where Third Lanark used to play

I drive past a ground on a regular basis that looks rubbish, seems to attract a load of reprebates regularly and stinks of piss
Not sure Vale Park was what you were aiming at though

In the summer of 1992 I think it was, I was driving through Chester and past the abandoned Sealand Road ground. I noticed an opening and that was it. Parked up and squeezed in.
Very strange feeling with the overgrown pitch and terraces. The main stand was an oddity and looked totally out of place. A breeze block monstrosity with a chicken wire fence in front of it. No bottom tier or terraces just an elevated tier of seating. And the roof was still on it which Vale purchased for the Hamill End! Had a look around inside and it was just plain and dull. No sense of it being the centrepiece of an old professional football club at all. It was quite eerie though, if you're in a place like that the silence can be very unsettling.
Back outside and on to what was the home end and leaning on a crush barrier trying to imagine a match day.
Another memory was the floodlights there. They were black and very imposing. Leaning over the four corners as if they were watching down on the place for intruders like me!
Just looked up that Stoke only ever played there once in the FA Cup in 1947.

When 6,500 capacity Nene Park, home of Rushden and Diamonds, was constructed in 1992, it was heralded as a model for lower league clubs a bit like Fylde FC’s. Sad to say it was demolished less than 20 years later to make way for a leisure park. Shame!

I sometimes used to drive through Northamptonshire in the 1980's and was always amused when passing a dilapidated old ground which proudly proclaimed itself to be "The Home of Irthlingborough Diamonds". A forerunner to Rushden and Diamonds before amalgamation! And the ground was the old Nene Park.

Quite poignant for me as I was born and raised in Aylesbury, used to stand on the sidelines and watch the outstandingly named Cliff Hercules banging them in for fun in the early 90’s! Unfortunately as nice as the villages are around there local sport doesn’t seem to be a big part of their lives. For example, my family down there are either Chelsea or Spurs. Sad really. Having the Halton RAF base camp there, which I lived literally next door to it’s very armed forces affiliated.

Is there one in a Chell/Chell Heath?
I remember walking through one and it was only like a Sunday league one but had a stand I think.

Having looked at a map and aerial photo of where I thought it was, I reckon it’s now part of Ormiston Horizon school. Does that fit?

I've been inside a couple of small abandoned stadiums and looked into a couple of bigger ones (like Millmoor) from the outside. It's weird seeing dusty seats, peeling paint and overgrown grass. I find abandoned theme parks the saddest places. Popping into my old primary school before it was demolished was weird too - especially how small everything seemed compared to what I remembered. There was even a folder of photos that included photos of me in it! Abandoned Millmoor: www.alamy.com/stock-photo/the-abandoned-millmoor-football-stadium.htmlIt wasn't built for sport, but this abandoned amphitheatre at the top of a Bulgarian mountain is one of the most incredible and crazy places I've been to: Attachment DeletedWork is in progress to restore it, but lots of money is needed.

K Chell fc and they used be in North West Counties. Is this the same site as Great Chell Cricket Club? The outside of the Google picture seems familiar. Used to hold the high school sports there in the early 50s (days when I was a damn sight faster than I am now!).

That Aylesbury is a pretty area. (At least on Google Earth!) Imagine my disgust when I saw Vale Park on it. (Nah it's actually a pretty green space behind a technical school) The pubs and liquor stores are clearly marked - that town has it's priorities straight!
I walk through different areas of SOT and other cities/villages on occasion so make sure you're not picking your nose or scratching your arse if outside and a funny looking car drives by! Poignant note: Couple years ago (It's been updated since) I "walked" by my dad's house in Missouri and they actually caught him outside walking in the garden. (He was outside a lot). He had passed away approx. 6 months prior so those pics are from whenever they had last updated. Screwing around on Google Earth and I get one last look at my dad! It was just a faint view from over his shoulder but no doubt it was him. From that point, I was hooked.
Sounds like there's enough abandoned facilities and such for one of you to start up an "Abandoned" show on Netflix!

I was in Haworth a few months back and did the Wuthering Heights walk over the moors and came across the town's abandoned cricket club on the moors high above the town.
