Just seen on social media that Stoke aren't refunding match tickets for those that couldn't travel to the Hearts game on Saturday due to Avanti cancelling the trains.
Fucking disgusting from the club imho.

Surely unless it’s official travel then it’s your responsibility to get to the venue

Surely unless it’s official travel then it’s your responsibility to get to the venue Well yes but there is extenuating circumstances here and the club should take that into consideration. As always though they don't because we are cash machines not customers or supporters in their eyes.

Isn’t it ultimately Hearts’ decision? I know we sell the tickets but doesn’t the revenue go to them? Not 100% sure how it works.
Edit: just remembered it was a testimonial, so it’s not Stoke’s money to refund.

If you bought a ticket to the Millwall game and can’t go because you got ill or got called into work last minute, would you expect Stoke to cover the cost of your ticket?

Not sure what the club can do here outside of a 'goodwill gesture' ?
I certainly don't think they deserve criticism for NOT refunding supporters.

Surely it is the train operators responsibility.

And free coach travel paid for by the club isn’t a viable alternative? Ermmm

The club has once again frozen season ticket prices despite 9.4% inflation rate. Did you get travel insurance? If not, why is it the club’s problem?

Because the trains were cancelled at short notice, meaning fans no longer had means to travel to the game.
Were the free coaches even available for this fixture? regardless of whether they were or not, if a large majority of the fanbase can't physically travel they should be refunded.
We sold north of 500 tickets and it looked like there was about 200 there max from what I saw.

My bad, i'd assumed this was the Milwall game and it was the strikes and not Hearts game.

If you bought a ticket to the Millwall game and can’t go because you got ill or got called into work last minute, would you expect Stoke to cover the cost of your ticket? You'd be able to return it. My understanding was that these trains were cancelled at such short notice there was no way of either returning tickets or travelling to the game. (I may be wrong on this so will happily be corrected)

I wouldn’t even expect the club to refund it as it’s not their problem
If you bought a ticket for a concert and then couldn’t get there would you expect to get a refund after the event?
Add to that the ticket isn’t the property of Stoke City it’s Hearts

I'd heard that some were only not stopping at Crewe but not sure how true that is either. All I do know is loads that were meant to be going couldn't.

A gesture of good will to all Stoke fans affected by the train cancellations on Saturday. The club have decided to reimburse each fan with a valid, unused match ticket and will cover the cost to Hearts.

So they should pay for something entirely out of their control when they didn’t make a penny from it to begin with? Ok. Maybe they should pay me for new shoes the next time it pisses it down and I step in a puddle leaving the ground.

Would the motorway be shut by the police and the train companies specifically to stop Stoke fans from travelling though, no so it's completely irrelevant.

For what it’s worth when we played Tottenham away a few years ago over Christmas the match was changed at short notice to the day after
The club refunded every single penny for the train tickets we’d purchased as they had control over the match change date
They have no control over the railways

I nearly missed the train in Warrington due to the swing bridges being over. I'd have laid this squarely at the doors of Stoke City and would have expected ticket refunds and compensation for my hurt feelings.
