Was a decent player at one point, hasn’t seemed to be for a while though and surely any centre back we get now should be a left sided one?

Wondered when this link would surface. Makes sense given the type of player he is.

Given our usual transfer strategy its not that strange unfortunately

Another Holden call then.
Seemed to do well on loan at Bristol City when he was there.
Could be a shrewd signing.

Amazing to think he was in the England squad just before the 2018 World Cup.
Very odd career

Lost his way somewhat but I believe he’s still a decent age and could have a point to prove. Could be a good signing if it happens.

If he is left footed we could do much worse, 28 is a good age for a central defender too.

He’s a good player. The Flint signing is looking more and more strange. No Souttar. One or both of Taylor/Forrester are likely on their way out. Mawson will play in a position left or right of centre. Flint won’t.

He has had 3 year of knee injuries which stopped his career. If you get him fit he is a decent championship player and no more. A free agent also.

It’s an ideal situation with no need for Flint.

Doesn't seem to be on massive wages according to wiki which is good.

Doesn't seem to be on massive wages according to wiki which is good. His current salary is £0 - which is even better!

Jagielka is also 40 though and Souttar is still to return from injury as well as compete in a World Cup. Plus if Taylor is going to be backup to each of them then at his age he is better going somewhere were he can play every week.

Yeah, definitely looks like he's playing left of centre here.

To be honest I’ve not seen much of him to really have any idea if he’s any good these days, very much judging him by his name and reputation and nothing else.
Good player to be linked with. However surprised to read he’s not really had many links with clubs over the last week other than Wycombe and Birmingham. Which slightly concerns me given he is a free agent.
I think as a free agent though he’s probably one of our better options right now and if he can reignite his career then he’ll be a great addition. It’s a slight gamble but one which could really come off. Good age too.

Is it that disastrous to have Taylor and Forrester having one more season out on loan at league one level? Both look like they could have been part of our squad this year and i'd have been happy with that, but equally happy to go with MONs judgement, as whilst is not been without fault, its been a lot better than previous management's in youth.

It’s not so much signing another defender as that defender being Flint, who doesn’t seem to suit a back three.

Jags is only here until the end of the year though. I seem to remember that he signed a 6 months contract.
