It was a very special day. Unique in our history. A team of committed players managed by a proper leader. Over a century of frustration came together that afternoon. There might have been 40,000 of us physically at Wembley but there were many more with us in spirit who had wished for a day like that their entire lives. Same leader who bottled it yet again when it came to the main event. We could hardly put a team out and Pennant, Walters, Etherington and Jones were all carrying injuries and it showed. Hardly bottled it v a great side

Hardly bottled it v a great side He bottled it we played his default negative shite nothing remotely like the football we had played in that mini run prior to the final when we’d been demolishing teams for fun. A few niggles I don’t think they caused the no show. The capped wonder bottled it just as he did his best to bottle promotion. Our form, our play, our goal output was transformed after Southampton and Scunthorpe at home in a week. Both wins but we conceded a few and Pulis shit himself and hit default and started trying to strangle games instead of just battering the opposition.

After winning 5 on the bounce and scoring for fun, we then went on to win only 1 of our next 8 and scored a measly 4 goals. We were on our way to another defeat at Coventry at half time but managed to turn it round, and picked up enough points to get over the line. It shouldn’t have been so close and with a bit more adventure we would have won the title.

Premier League football bottled( doing what Burnley have done for years was the height of his ambition)

Wigan did it to Man City 2yrs later, they have a trophy to show for it.

Etherington and Huth on one leg and no Fuller to come off the bench due to a torn Achilles.

Wigan got to that same stage against the same team a year or two later, turned up with the intention of having a proper go and came away with the cup. Not easy but not impossible either.

Read the reports back, they fully deserved to win. “Roberto Martinez's side produced a performance full of attacking intent and verve to fully deserve this historic win” www.bbc.com/sport/football/22409634Wigan had 7 shots on goal that day to Man City’s 10, and they shared possession equally. We had 1 shot and spent the whole game defending.

With the players we had and injuries then yes on that day I think it was against them and if Kenwyne had put his chance away then he’d have got it spot on.

It seems you think that's all we can aspire to. By aspiring for total football we might not be in the mess we’re in now ! All the run up to the final was about if Etherington would he be fit, it was he at the time who was pulling the strings for our attack. We kept the embryonic Man City that you see now pretty quiet for much of the final so don’t belittle those players efforts, because I’m sure that they wanted and tried to win that game as much as the fans did.

Nothing to do with belittling the players effort but the managers mindset it was his default setting it was horrible, negative and unambitious. I take it he'd still be here left to you?
