It’s quite obvious that the posters on this board have been around a bit, although, hopefully, not yet over the hill.
So we must have come across some well kent faces in our time.
Which famous (or even infamous) people have you met?
I’ll get the ball rolling by saying the Queen at Buckingham Palace.
I’ve a lovely photo of the two of us shaking hands, smiling at each other and having a wee chat. Well, my mum has it. She likes it a lot more than me!
I had a longer conversation later on with Phil the Greek during which he had a pop at me saying I was a waste of public money; he thought, wrongly, that I worked for the government. I replied by saying he must be right considering his considerable experience in wasting public money. I saw a light flicker in his eyes for a moment although I’m not sure if that was humour or anger (or possibly static) before he wandered off to have a pop at someone else.

More through work than pleasure. Shiekhmomos favourite billionaire entrepreneur John Cauldwell, sound bloke, if a tad billionairey. Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver, insufferable obnoxious gobshite. Ruud Gullit, as cool and laid back as you’d expect. Really nice guy too. Rylan Clark Neal, not as annoying as you’d expect, you don’t really see it on telly but he is very tall and a chain smoker. Nice enough although didn’t stick around too long.

I seem to remember that we had a similar thread not so long ago, within the last couple of years I think, but I can't recall the thread name unfortunately.
Anyway, in no order of priority or preference, and certainly not a complete list
Many motorsport drivers and riders - F1, BTCC, Rally, MotoGP, Superbike - all due to work over 20 year period Barry McGuigan - likeable and very funny Chris Rea - very down to earth and a genuinely nice man Keith Flint (Prodigy) - fairly quiet but very friendly Boycie from Only Fools - nice blokej Don Estelle - "Lofty" from It Ain't Half Hot Mum" - selling his CD's in Watford shopping centre (I didn't buy one !) Hannah Gordon - actress - sat next to her from Heathrow to Manchester Saw Brendan Foster and Steve Cram at the next Boarding gate at Heathrow. Jeremy Bowen - BBC - chatted to him as we were waiting in a very lengthy security check having just landed at Tel Avuv. Phil Tufnell - very arrogant and extremely obnoxious Steve Rider - BBC sport presenter from a few years ago - nice bloke Suzy Perry - TV sport presenter at the time - very arrogant Ted Hankey (darts player), came to view my house a few years ago and actually put in an offer. Yvette Fielding (Most Haunted) in front of me in the queue at Sainsbury's in Nantwich
Probably the earliest was just after I'd left school and for a short time I worked at Norman Rhead's builders merchants in Normacot and John Farmer came in to order some materials for his house.
I did see Prince Andrew (unfortunately) whilst he was on some trade visit in Dubai around 2005ish.
There's quite a few more I'm sure, but I can think of them at present.

I met Prince Charles a few years back, didn’t realise how small he is.
Linda Lussardi face like a dart board.
John Inman, Nigel Ben the boxer.
And Steve Bull who called me a prick as I said something sarcastic to him.

Got forced into having a photo with David Platt at Manchester Airport when I was a kid, I believe it must have been on the very tail end of his time as a coach on England U21's.
I didn't have a fucking clue who he was, I think it was more for dad's amusement than anything!
Met Begovic and Crouchy as well, top guys.

I went to Oslo to visit the Viking Ship Museum. I hadn't realised that the Rolling Stones were playing Oslo that weekend so it was a bit of a shock to find myself face to face with Ronnie Wood having his photo taken with a Viking Ship. His minder asked me not to take a photo of Ronnie and he was nice enough to come over and shake my hand.
My mate met Gordon Banks the same week and we still debate whether Rolling Stone beats World Cup winner.

We went, and there was a lot of praying and mantra ,then people asked some very personal questions and sought guidance on topics of bereavement, humanitarian issues, China, God etc but mainly on how to reach enlightenment (nirvana) and how to cope with life and generally how to be a better person. He seemed a pleasant man, stern when needed but also with an almost English sense of humour. Im am not a religious person at all but some people do have a dare I say "Je ne sais quoi" where you just sense something but cannot describe it ,he has that in abundance.

Too many to mention, nearly all through the course of my work (been a meejah cunt for the past 15 years or so).
The top-three most famous however would be:
1. Pele 2. Maradona 3: Mike Tyson
I generally find that the question that yields more interesting answers is 'How Many Famous People's Numbers Do You Have Stored In Your Phone?'
Obviously, Piers Morgan and any former employees of The News of The World come out on top when this question is poised, but some of the replies you get back from your average 'man in the street' are quite enlightening and/or bizarre.

Michael Palin, Lou Macari, Yann Tiersen, Feeder (back in the days before Jon Lee died), Gordon Hill, Daley Thompson (he stole my mum's pen in Tunstall Park), Norman Blake from Teenage Fanclub (I bumped into him in some cinema toilets after a screening of Bohemian Rhapsody), the (former?) singer from Kasabian...some others I can't remember right now. My band supported a few bands that were relatively well known, but I'm not sure I'd say famous. I had the chance to meet Tim Vine and Simon Reeve (not at the same time) but don't really like bothering people. I sort of regret it now - I had a Tim Vine DVD on me I could've got signed.
I'm yet to meet Nigel Mansell, my childhood hero. I've missed out whenever he's done signings, including for his recent autobiography when I was away on holiday.

Lord and Lady Callaghan, when we played footie against an old boys XI from Jim's old school in Furzeham in Devon. We presented him with some Royal Doulton at half time and we got a ship in a bottle in return. There's even some video of me opening the scoring in that game (before the flood gates opened and we got hammered 8-1) Am much more in awe of CoolDave meeting Grotbags though tbh

Love to have a chat with Chris Rea. He was a really nice, down to earth guy. I met him at Donington Park in the late 90's quite by chance when I was working and he was there racing sports cars (not sure what car though - I think it was a Ferrari). I'm a big fan of his anyway, but started the conversation off talking about racing. We spent about 20 minutes chatting on the first occasion and then another 15 to 20 minutes or so the following day. He was just an ordinary bloke and seemed to enjoy just "having a chat". We did talk about his music during the second conversation and he seemed bemused at being famous for doing something he loved.

George Best, Frank Bruno and various other individuals in a pub called The Crown in the village where I lived in Bedfordshire. There's a place called Henlow Grange which is now a Champneys health spa type place. George used to go quite regularly for the booze free environment but ended up in my local with his other half. Happy to say hello but no conversations.

Mostly musicians for me
Reni from the Stone Roses Karl Hyde (Underworld) Keyboard player from Elbow Marcus Mumford David Dewaele (Soulwax/2Manysdjs) Money Mark Pat from LCD Soundsystem Singer from Future Islands
Also a few 6 music djs, Shaun Keveaney, Mark Radcliffe, Stuart Maconie, Matt Everett, Mark Riley etc
From telly, Hairy Bikers, Gordon Ramsey, Maxine Peake, Ken Dodd, Lewis Collins. Martin Platt, Dev, Des Barnes, and Kev all from Corrie, in particular Kev who's in a pub down the road nearly all the time it's open. Nice fella
Most famous was probably Wayne Rooney, with Colleen who was at local power league football thingy watching his son play. The amount of times they got asked for photos etc in an just under an hour was incredible. Felt sorry for him in the end as he just wanted to watch his kid play football so we chose not to bother him. Michael Carrick, fellow Utd and England player was with him and didn't get bothered once. Thats the difference between being famous and really famous I suppose.
Chris Iwelumo sat in front of me at a circus very briefly. He is fucking massive.
