Record number of appearances for Stoke City.....Bit part player? On the face if it, it does look weird. But if you look back at Eic's games, how many times would you say he was the star player? He was very modest and self-effacing. I doubt there is an archive of Motms from his 17 years, but I would guess he never was. Still, he was my favourite Stoke player of alltime. Absolutely. I completely get where you are coming from. He wasn't a star as such but a consistent 7 out of 10 most weeks kind of a player. A real team player who literally played in every position apart from goalkeeper. A true Stoke City Legend who went about his work quietly, consistently, modestly and with class. A real Star!!!

Carl Saunders had one great spell in 86/87 under Mills where he was a 1 in 2 man.

Ibrahim Afellay. Apparently he played 47 times but that was over 4 years. A clapped out Rolls Royce is still a Rolls Royce. there was a spell when he had a run of games in centre mid and was superb
