Just watching some classic Dr Who on tv and wondered which incarnation is the best.
Current incarnation on tv is Colin Baker, who was as popular as piles.
For me it is and always will be Tom Baker. He was superb with his booming voice, long scarf and jelly babies. Plus he had my childhood crush in his assistant Mary Tamm's Romana.
I know a lot prefer the new ones such as David Tennant or Matt Smith, but TB beat them hands down for me.

Toss up for me between Patrick Troughton and Tom Baker, if pushed I'll go for Tom . Lovely story from a few years ago when a kid with parents were in supermarket and TB was shopping also. Dad said to the lad,who was a big Dr Who fan ,that "that man used to Dr Who". Kid is dubious but dad reiterates it and Tom has overheard so he says hello and goes into an in character monologue about what he did as the Dr and just floors the lad. Fair play to him for that

Jon Pertwee for me. I suppose it's what you grew up with and he just looks like a timelord where others seem to be just geeks.
Strange then that no matter who plays the role of the Daleks they always look the same^

In order of my fave docs I’d go Tom Baker Patrick Troughton Jon Pertwee Peter Davidson William Hartnell Colin Baker Sylvester McCoy The last 2 killed it as did the scriptwriting which had gone massively downhill. Fave companion Sarah Jane Smith and Leela.

I thought Eccleston was good.....
Tenant made the role his own
Smith was average
then it went really bad

There is only one Dr Who for me and that is Jon Pertwee but as others have said it probably depends on when you grew up.
Ditto William Shatner is the only Captain Kirk and Adam West is the only real Batman.

Yep Eccleston was pretty good I though and Tennant owned it. Saw one of the recent Doctor and thought she was bloody awful. I always thought Bill Nighy would be a great Doctor

As a kid, definitely Pertwee and Tom Baker, as an adult Eccleston and Tennant.

Tom Baker and Jon Pertwee from my youth and from the reboot, Tennant was excellent and Eccleston was perfect to bring the series back.
Not sure the rumour of Hugh Grant as the new Doctor is a good or bad thing!
