I loved the Dalek invasion of Earth. Great film. Me too. Loved the cad who gave them away to the Daleks. Philip Madoc. He got his comeuppance though. Cribbins still going strong incredibly.

Tom Baker. It just is.
Bill Nighy supposedly turned the role down twice.

Dara Ó Briain would be an interesting Dr. He certainly has character and is well educated.

As I only ever watched first couple of seasons it’s William Hartnell for me. The sea devils attacked Portsmouth Naval base during Jon Pertwee’s tenure as the Doctor in 1972. Pertwee was of course a former matelot himself. William Hartnell had a prominent role in ‘Incident on the Yangtze’ about HMS Amethyst. Somebody must have shagged a lady sea devil 🤣

The Yangtze incident and HMS Amethyst is largely forgotten now but an amazing story of courage, leadership and also being repeated in Ukraine now but possibly on a larger scale and more brutal.
