..and I'm nervous as fuck. Six years back I quit full-time work to move back home with my parents to help my Mum with caring for Dad who was getting progressively worse and needed around the clock care. Sadly we lost him two days before Christmas. I thought I'd wait until the new year when all the paperwork, the funeral and everything else that comes with a death is out of the way to start looking for work - only part-time mind as my Mum still needs help due to her severe rheumatoid arthritis. Got a phone call today from a job I applied for a week or so back asking if I could come in for an interview tomorrow. Now I'm no shrinking violet when it comes to confidence, but man I'm nervous. Seeing as how I don't drive any more I'll be walking there (it's on Sir Stanley Matthews Way) and I just looked at the weather for tomorrow - rain and 70mph winds.

Best of luck mate, it’s fantastic what you’ve done for your parents and now looking to nail a job. I was off for 12 months after being made redundant after 23 years and I was absolutely the same when I was offered an interview. Hadn’t got a clue what to do. It was with a world renowned company but I needn’t have been worried. The people interviewing clearly weren’t prepared and I ended up running them ragged. They emailed me a job offer before I even got home, turned it down. Remember the people interviewing are generally dread it as much as you do. Be yourself with a little ad lib bullshit thrown in and it’ll be fine. Best of luck and let us know how you get on👍🏻

Have a few pints before you go and don't forget to rummage in your pants and rub the film of knacker sweat on your neck and forearms, thus creating a potent pheromone musk that will sway all but the hardiest of female interviewer.

Good luck mate, once you've successfully battled the conditions the interview will be straightforward. 👍

If they ask you any tricky questions, a good loud fart might help as a bit of a distraction for them while you think of an answer. Muttering “better out than in” might help, too. Seriously, just be yourself and don’t overthink things. Good luck.

I used to hate interviews and the whole application process, my current job comes with it’s fair amount of stress and sleep less nights.
I’ve got it in my head now I can only do my best and can’t influence other people so don’t stress about things as much as I did.
Get a good nights sleep and think along the lines of if you don’t get the job next interview you’ll be more confident.
Good luck though mate fingers crossed for you.

Thanks all. What time is your interview and where do you live? If I can ill take you there pal. Pass on a private message Thanks for that offer, that is very kind of you. It's only a quick 20 minute or so walk up the road though, so I think I'd like to walk and get my head straight before I get there. Perhaps the wind will blow a few of the cobwebs away. Thanks again for the offer though.

Best of luck mate.
Having interviewed loads of people over the years my only advice would be to be relaxed and yourself. The rest will take care of itself 👍🏻

Jot some notes down before you go, don't be afraid to refer to them.

One tip would be to see if they've had any positive news recently in the media and then drop it into the conversation when an opportunity presents. Shows preparation/ interest in the company.
