One tip at end of interview when they ask have you any questions say a bit about the company ie from my research I see that xyz then follow up with how would you describe your company and what do you see as your strengths and weaknesses Remember it's a 2 way process your assessing if its the right company for you also
Also be confident and listen to the questions and try and keep on topic
Some questions yes will always be asked
What are your strengths What are your weaknesses Where do you see yourself in 5 10 years
Expect questions related to being a team player etc Hope this helps

If they ask you what your weaknesses are don't say you can't think of any as everyone has them. Maybe say you've never had much confidence in yourself, makes you look humble.
If you make it there today it'll be a feather in your cap as some people might try to reschedule.
Good luck

In all seriousness, best of luck mate. Be yourself and show them the best version of you and what you can bring to them. You'll be fine.

Do your research - find out a bit about them, beforehand.
Don't worry - interviewees have a tendency to expect The Spanish Inquisition, but in reality, modern businesses run much more laid-back and informal interviews these days.
Tell yourself - they need you, maybe as much as you need them.
Be yourself, and don't overthink it.
Remember - you're sat there in front of them, on merit.
I haven't had an interview for 22 years. But I've done hundreds in that time.
Good luck.

..and I'm nervous as fuck. Six years back I quit work to move back home with my parents to help my Mum with caring for Dad who was getting progressively worse and needed around the clock care. Sadly we lost him two days before Christmas. I thought I'd wait until the new year when all the paperwork, the funeral and everything else that comes with a death is out of the way to start looking for work - only part-time mind as my Mum still needs help due to her severe rheumatoid arthritis. Got a phone call today from a job I applied for a week or so back asking if I could come in for an interview tomorrow. Now I'm no shrinking violet when it comes to confidence, but man I'm nervous. Seeing as how I don't drive any more I'll be walking there (it's on Sir Stanley Matthews Way) and I just looked at the weather for tomorrow - rain and 70mph winds. Doing what you have done for your Mum and Dad I wish you all the best.

I’ve found that the job description always gives a massive advantage when it comes to the interview process as it repeats the “key” words you need to get in time after time.
I circled each word that was repeated numerous times on each paragraph and made sure I got them in on the face to face panel interview, honestly they couldn’t keep up scoring me, nailed it massively and i was told months afterwards when I’d accepted the job it was one of the best interviews they’ve ever had.

Best foot forward, firm handshake, shoulders back and if I can give you one tip its this: THey know what theyre looking for as theyve selected you for a purpose. What 99 % of people miss out on their CV its their work achievements. meaning cost savings on a project, delivering work ahead of schedule, that sort of thing. If you outline your achievements to the interviewer then youve outlined that X factor you can give ahead of the other candidates. GO get em !

Doing what you have done for your Mum and Dad I wish you all the best. You make a good point. A mate of mine gave up his job in London to come back to Chester to look after his folks. Fortunately they weren't short of a few quid which helped. That was 10 years ago and his dad has now passed and my mate had a terrible time finding a new job now that he was touching 50. Thankfully he got one in the end and all is well now. But it really is a very big and honourable thing to do. Sounds like Boothen could do with a bit of luck having acted so selflessly

Bit late now, but I always liked the Top Tip that Viz magazine came up with for an interview... When asked to describe yourself in three words, say "Violent when disappointed"... Hope they offered it you, Boothen.

Just back. Interview went OK, but then I shot myself in the foot by mentioning my dodgy eye. Have a keratoconus in my right eye, and whilst it doesn't really have that much of an effect on my eyesight it needs to be disclosed if asked about my eyesight when operating machinery and H&S are involved. So rather than being offered the job todayu, now I have to wait for the company's H&S manager to look through my application and either sign off on it or see where it goes from there.
Oh well. People have always said I'm too honest for my own good.

Good luck.

If you didn’t be straight with them and they dig deeper they would begin to question your integrity. Your integrity is very much intact in fact you’ve probably played a trump card there

Way I'm looking at now is if I do get offered the job, then yay \o/ If I don't, then at least the dreaded first interview is out of the way and the next one will should a lot less stressful.
