In what sense? Looked a great save? Seriously are you taking the piss? It was straight at him. He didn’t have to move, just push it over the bar Love how people who've never spent a moment of their lives in goal seem to think how easy everything is. It WAS a good save, he did fuck all wrong.

How can you watch the highlights and then decide that it was his fault? His reactions is what makes the she a good one... Unsighted and MADE THE SAVE. If anyone thinks that a keeper should be catching that then they should go and give it a go. His positioning was fine, as a goalkeeper you're taught to cover one side of the goal with your wall and your cover the other side... That's what he did. Quite easy as the highlights show what happened 😄 Strange concept I know Not a single person said he should catch it. Check the 4th comment on this thread... Posted by the OP

He saved it. Why are people talking like he didn’t save it 😂😂 Adam Davies saved the initial shot for Bournemouth's goal. It was still shit goalkeeping which led to them scoring from the rebound.

If he was unsighted, his positioning was terrible. As it was, his positioning was fine. He was looking at the ball past the edge of the wall and the ball was hit straight down his throat. A sign that his positioning was good as he didn't have to move to make the save. Absolutely. Imagine a keeper being unsighted from a wall he set up. As you said he sees it all the way and not like he had to adjust his footing.

Posted by the OP I actually gave 3 instances of what he could have done. If he stood tall it's a pretty straightforward "W" catch...though granted the modern approach would be to clench the fists and ensure it went far away from the goal in pretty much any direction. Very few keepers these days attempt to catch a ball of that nature. Drives me mad.

Bursik should have done better today. He'll be disappointed he didn't push it over/push it away.

I'm sure it would be fantastic for him to catch it on the back of his neck and do some keepy uppies but it wasn't possible. My comment wasn't a pop at you by the way, just answering Jesus's comment to point out where anyone has stated that he should catch it

As has been said, the wall setup made it so he could see the ball pretty much all the way through, and Gordon Banks used to say he'd fancy a keeper more on a free kick without a wall rather than with, because of the sight of the ball.
I don't see the issue with calling it for what it is, weak goalkeeping, whilst not going overboard and supporting the lad. He's young, he'll get better, grow, improve and eventually outgrow the club and move on.

Why would people on here be in goal. What a daft comment. He's a goalkeeper. Because people in the thread think that every shot should be comfortably saved and can't see that it was a difficult save and he did his job and pulled out a top save, the questions should be aimed at the defenders that were 2nd to react and then allowed a free header 2 yards out.

He's looking right down the line of it. Why is he sunk so low into his heels? Because he's edging his bets that the taker is going to put it into the near corner and he's giving himself the best chance to get across his goal to make the save. His gamble meant he couldn't make the save he needed to which was to get a shot straight at him away from the danger area. He has to do better in the last minute of the match. He simply has to. Sadly you just knew that if it was on target it would result in a goal. Our keepers, all season long, have failed us miserably.

I could be wrong, but from watching the highlights I’d be more annoyed at the lack of effort put into stopping the follow up shot that was the goal

Bursic does have time on his side though. I'd say it's the one position we could benefit from bringing in a decent veteran and by that I mean someone who's played at the top level.

As many on here will know, myself an Mr. Johnno, have a lovely child together, currently in isolation for reasons which I do no need to be made public. However, on this point we “agree to disagree”, confirmed when he finds his dinner in the bed. Bursiik, as has been pointed out in numerous threads, is a young goalkeeper. By definition that means he is open to improvement. If MON thinks he can improve, then that’s good enough for me. He’s an international goalie FFS. Do you think the selectors are not aware of his flaws? Yet they persevere. To blame the result today on one person, in whatever position, seems to me to reflect a natural disappointment in not winning a game we might have won. It’s understandable, but let’s hope we don’t weaponise our disappointment to minutely criticise the performance of individual payers. Having said that, Clucas is, and will always be, shit.

It's a difficult one... Part of me thinks he should have done better with the initial shot, but part of me thinks there wasn't much he could do!!!
I think I'm just looking for someone to blame for conceding when a win looked within reach!!!

He looked great when he first came on the scene hopefully he's just having a bit of a blip at the moment. A lot of it for me is down to coaching with GK's.

I see it as a good tip onto the bar that could have gone anywhere and instead landed right back in the danger area. Certainly wouldn’t have it as a mistake, just a shame there wasn’t enough on it to get over the bar.
