Looks like a party in Ottawa.
Justin rainbow socks poked the bear a little too hard.

France is also having a huge protest with a mass movement to Paris. For some countries it's time to move on. You can get stuck in a huge rut with Covid, test that check that, the whole country can just idle at standstill. I'm glad we've avoided most of it this time around.

Insulate Britain came to mind with them (the truckers I mean) blocking the main border crossing from Canada into the US. Different motives. Same tactics. Different constituencies too. One is a bunch of middle class hand washers, the other working people. In fairness, the Trucks of Freedom seem to have a lot more popular support.

The other is fighting for loft insulation. I don't think the two are remotely comparable.

Not sure we really need another echo chamber of coronavirus hyperbole.
Any chance you could keep this to that thread?

This type of protest isn’t something we’ve had much of in this country. Across the channel in our nearest neighbour, it’s much more common. Maybe this is the Gallic part of Canadian culture coming out.

He’s one of a long list of recent and current political leaders who should never have been within a country mile of power. You mentioned another con man previously… Macron. Whose predecessor was no better. In this country we have Boris the Buffoon at the helm, god help us. New Zealand have the Blessed Jacinda. Not to mention the worst of the lot, the bampot Trump. We can forget Biden; if only because he probably has forgotten himself. No wonder China and Russia feel emboldened with this shower of misfits and muppets running the West.

He started by calling them a small fringe minority then racists and now terrorists.
Police stopping people joining the convoy, confiscating fuel, Gofundme withholds almost 10m raised. Now threatening massive fines and consequences
This will be his downfall some in his own party are openly turning on him and some of the Provinces have started rowing back restrictions
That small fringe majority opened a can of worms

Another day, another reactionary old dinosaur pile-on!
It was a simple request, since there is already a thread dedicated to all things over-reacting about Covid. Not sure why a separate one is necessary?
But perhaps you're right, this particular echo chamber is best left to collapse to its inevitable irrelevance under the weight of its need for self-affirmation.
At least no-one has claimed the truck protest is never-ending or not real. Yet. Progress, I guess!

Politicians supporting them, countless ordinary hard working people supporting them It’s not hard to find if you look Populist Trumpites. Beyond contempt. Racist, fascist and probably bald, fat and stupid. The scum of the earth in other words. Thank the Lord we have Trudeau. He has the vision, the passion and the vision to create a 21st century fit for heroes.

Living in Wellington we’ve had a total of 7 weeks of lockdown (ok Auckland was fucked), whilst the new restrictions are annoying with the rest of the world opening up it doesn’t affect day to day life, we can still play sport, go to the pub etc. and the borders are on track to open in June. I’d say she started amazingly and is finishing slowly, but public opinion is still on her side

It's like taking someone's view from the Covid thread, no matter how factually incorrect or biased, but validating their view because "they live there". Maybe you shouldn't be allowed a view on the Russia/Ukraine situation because you don't live there? I'd also add that you could equally find a NZ resident with a completely different view to"upthefud". How anyone can think Ardern's policy is rational, proportionate or successful is beyond me. Her obscene, covid zero approach has been found out for what it is. Watching Trudeau and Arden's plight is great to watch ☺️
