Tonight's a perfect example of what I see Brown's role as: he's probably not in the 'best XI' on paper, but there'll be situations and certain games that he's perfect for. We were desperate for some fresh energy up-front and he delivered that, as well as a great finish for the equaliser. Rubbish. We don’t have a forward in the form of Brown. He has to start

Said it before, it’s Brown and somebody else. Nobody can run the Channels for the balls we need to play at times while offering a threat as well
We either have goalscorers or grafters up top, Brown is a bit of both and the best we have currently

Fantastic hit, unstoppable.
Gave us a bit more pace and energy up too and caused them a few problems as they’d started to tire.
He’s a good egg is Jacob.

Fletcher was a great player but stick a fork in him he’s done. Brown should start ahead of him

Having said that, if we're going 4 at the back again next week, I'd play him on the right ahead of Campbell.

He plays on the right of the 3 for me as he'll do his fair share of tracking back and he's not prolific enough to be the central striker.

Fletcher was a great player but stick a fork in him he’s done. Brown should start ahead of him Brown is indestructible. The terminator of our team. The sloppy silver one. Not the Arnie one. Was just thinking about his resilience. He doesn’t half get some batterings from the opposition and yet rarely misses a game through injury. When so many of our players appear to be made of glass, Brown seems made of stronger stuff. Whilst he may have technical limitations, his enthusiasm, effort and grit can’t be in doubt.

Then again no one is a must start in an O*Neill team.

Great goal Friday night. He's a valuable member of our team.. I wish we could say the same for Surridge.

Brown has improved massively, but still he is a very limited forward. Despite of this he right now is the striker I'd have up top as he is always on the move and makes their defence busy. He also wins headers and he his first touch has improved so it doesn't bounce off him like last season. I guess we will renew his contract too, and that he is a part of the plan for next season. Campbell is useless as the lone striker right now as he isn't fit enough, won't go for balls in the air and his close control seems to have vanished too. Fletcher would still be our best option if fit, but he seems to get injured all the time, and probably won't be here next season either. I'm still not sure about Surridge, but if the rumours about Maja are true I think he is on the way out to be honest. Maybe our pool of strikers for next season will be Maja, Brown, Campbell and DWP as long as we stay in the Championship.

I really don't get the downer some people have about Brown. He's a young player that's improving all the time; he never gives less than 100% and works hard in all areas of the park, and he's our leading goal scorer. Is he a Messi? No. Is he a Pericard? No. He's just a decent lad who does his best every time he pulls on the shirt and were it not for him we would be lower down in the league. For goodness sake cut him some slack.
OS.

I think in a few cases is very much a case of slating him previously then being unwilling to admit were wrong. We had the same with Walters. Easy to jump to quick judgements at times. When I first met you I thought you were a weirdo who peed his pants for fun in public . ....bad example

It was a good finish, if he doesn't have to think about it he can pull it off now and then but when he has time he more often messes it up.
Shouldn't be more than a bench player really but it just shows what a mess MON made of signing a decent striker in the summer that he gets so many mins/starts.
