Maybe it has something to do with the fact that half the squad are still recovering from an illness that shut the world down Slightly over egging the pudding samba n being far too kind to them I think mate

dataviz.theanalyst.com/season-reviews/2021/?competition_id=10&season_id=2021Further to the XG point, Opta has us in an amazing 19th in the division for Expected Goals from open play - with only the divisional also-rans behind us - and it's all the good teams unsurprisingly at the top We're a surprising 5th in XG from set-pieces (we have at least got a decent set-piece taker) And, defensively, we have got the 5th best XG against from open play - but the 5th worst against from set-pieces So a bit of a mixed bag. But it does match the eye test that we're creating f*** all - and it's got much, much worse since the injuries to Souttar and Powell, with the last few home performances being some of the very worst over the last decade Expected Goals from open play 2021-221 Bournemouth 34 2 Fulham 33 3 Blackburn 29 4 WBA 28 5 Sheff U 26 6 Mboro 25 19 Stoke 17

Off the BBC website...... Potters boss Michael O'Neill told BBC Radio Stoke: "Their two goals were poor ones to lose. We defended them poorly. But we're just disappointed with the quality of the performance. "The players gave their all and we pressed well and, at 1-1, we looked the most likely of the two sides to win. "But we were just too untidy. Whether that's down to the 19 days without playing, that's a potential reason. But we can't look at that. We just didn't take care of the ball well enough." If the players gave it their all, then what match was Michael watching? If the players gave it their all, then we have a very poor team, and I dread to think what will happen if they don't give it their all!!!

No formation works with the centre halves we have play our disposal unfortunately. We’ve tried lumping it in previous seasons and it’s been utterly mindnumbing. And playing from The back, which was working earlier in the season no longer can. The only answer is to change the personel. Two centre halves and a centre midfielder minimum.

Pre Souttar injury we were actually playing some very nice football , creating a lot of chances and winning games. So yeah I’d say the centre halves are a big problem

When you have too many players who are not fit for purpose, you are going to get a lot of shocking football.

To be fair I think most did give it their all..There was no lack of effort from Tymon for example, he was just garbage. Covid probably did play a part ,to an extent ,Fletcher, for one, should not have been anywhere near the pitch, the bloke was clearly nowhere close. Again though that's on the manager to get the best of the tools at his disposal and he didn't do a very good job of it. I get that injuries have forced his hand but he seems to be unwilling or incapable of trying anything different ( last 15 mins last night aside). I guess though that's ( most )football managers for you.Egotistical, pig headed and stubborn and desperately not wanting to admit they got it wrong

Twas the main word muttered around us and by us Can’t disagree Batth apart my goodness they were bad and the manager tonight was clueless again I don't know how Batth escapes? He was caught out of position and stranded for both goals. They did what most other teams in the Championship fail to do and took him out of the picture with passing which completely flummoxed him instead of crossing into the box and playing to his strengths. His hesitancy on the ball is also one of the reasons we miss Souttar so much. Batth looks up, looks around, decides to pass sideways or forwards two yards to a player who then passes back to him and repeat. Souttar would carry the ball forward and play a through pass or an accurate pass to the wings.
