I so want to chuck my two penneth in, but like our team, just couldn't be arsed, drained of all optimism yet again. Out thought, out fought and out battled, and that is purely down to application. Happening all too often.

For Expected Goals fans, the last 4 home games have produced: 0.27 tonight 0.46 against Boro 0.27 v Blackburn 0.28 against Peterborough That is just insanely bad and worrying. They'd all be in our bottom few percent of games in that stat. Not a massive one for xG stats but those ones really do tell the stories of each of those games. Worrying thing is we’ve gone into each one with the exact same flawed tactics and expected something different to magically happen. We’ve gone from being really dangerous at home and poor on the road to looking quite solid but threatening away from home and flat in front of our own fans. Very frustrating……

Been a big MON in advocate but that’s borderline unacceptable. It’s just directionless dirge. No thought to it, no bravery, just hoping something falls for us.

No holding defenders or players who can consistently pass the ball FORWARD 5 feet. Did Rooney slip LSD into our water-cooler? Not being able to control the ball for 3 passes somehow enables us to attack better? Aren't we supposedly foregoing a holding mid in lieu of a more "attacking" midfield? Well that sorcery produced what, no shots on goal for like, 75% of the game today? We finally get a manager willing to give youth a chance for the first time in years and now he seems intent on cocking all of that up. Coming out "flat" today and giving points away to Derby... I'd blow the door off the changing room with my yelling right now.
Might even have to break out the old naked head-butt!

When you see what Rooney is squeezing out of what should be a demotivated bunch of kids and OAPs on rock bottom Champo wages, it really puts things into focus. I'd go in and offer Rooney the job, give him a BET 365 black card and let him play up front too if he wanted.

Rooney has done a really good job, the only thing I will say is he almost has a free pass. If they went down with 20 points he wouldn’t get criticised for the hand he’s been dealt, and if they stayed up he’d rightly be lauded as a miracle worker. A different job would come with added pressure, can’t knock the guy though……

If you watched that game on a training ground with all the players in disguise you wouldn’t be able to say with confidence it was a second tier match.
Much of it, the controlling the ball like it’s a rugby ball, some of the passing in the same manner, made me question whether I should continue to make fun of womens football.
Championship football usually is lacking in quality but you’d do well to find a worse game down the road.

Tonight was the first time that I’ve said I cannot watch this anymore. I appreciate when MON took over we were guaranteed relegation fodder & he turned that around. However after very promising signs early on in the season eg the West Brom game. We have just gone absolutely dreadful…

I didn't watch a single second of any football during Covid and didn't miss it at all. There's better things out there to do with my time and money.

As far as I can see we've had 3 of our top 10 worst XG games in the last 4 home games in the last month - with the Boro game (0.46) only marginally better It's not coincidence. At home, it's just not working. You don't have to be a tactical genius to see it, do you? Stoke's worst XG totals 0.08 3-1 Brentford A (18-19) Jones' first game 0.14 5-0 Chelsea A (17-18) 0.19 0-0 Derby A (20-21) 0.21 0-2 Man City H (17-18) 0.22 1-1 Leicester A (17-18) 0.24 1-1 Newcastle A (14-15) 0.27 TODAY 0.27 0-1 Blackburn H 27TH NOVEMBER 0.28 2-0 Pboro H 20TH NOVEMBER0.31 0-2 Swansea A (20-21) Stunning

If ever a team showed it doesn’t care! They have no shame. I’m not sure what that says about the manager, but it can’t be good.

I don't think anybody would complain if players gave 100% but they don't seem to. Surely playing in the Prem is motivation enough, sadly it doesn't seem to be.

That was just inept tonight. It was quite evident how poor the home attendance was, and on recent home performances I totally understand why. WHERE IS THE ENTERTAINMENT ?? Why can’t we get a midfield that plays on the front foot in the opposition half ? We can blame the defence and strikers all we want but the midfield is a shambles. They offer no support for the defence and their supply to the forwards is just embarrassing. The passing tonight was inept. This game was ripe for the taking and we blew it, as we do very well and worryingly consistently. I’m not for sacking MON but we need to find a way of playing ,or a system that creates chances, entertains and excites. If MON can’t deliver then it may be time to look at a younger alternative with fresher ideas, cuz we certainly saw one tonight in their technical area.
Too many players have hit “easy street” at Stoke and that needs to change. The effort that Derby put in, despite their issues, should embarrass our lot….; No doubt we’ll get the usual lame excuses of “bad luck” and “need for improvement” but the cold truth is we’re not good enough to boss teams at home .
Michael….. I’m backing you to get it right but my patience is running out !!

I looked on ceefax and we lost 2-1 though. weird. in all seriousness - outside the prem part I would be ashamed of those stats and asking myself what the F I am doing...... its absolutely unquestionably his squad now, hes been backed as much as anyone in relative terms and every notable 'excuse' can be applied to any club in this league. He obviously has until summer but approach to games needs to change quickly.

Off the BBC website......
Potters boss Michael O'Neill told BBC Radio Stoke:
"Their two goals were poor ones to lose. We defended them poorly. But we're just disappointed with the quality of the performance.
"The players gave their all and we pressed well and, at 1-1, we looked the most likely of the two sides to win.
"But we were just too untidy. Whether that's down to the 19 days without playing, that's a potential reason. But we can't look at that. We just didn't take care of the ball well enough."
If the players gave it their all, then what match was Michael watching?

From and including the Peterborough game, we have had 3 dreadful, clueless home performances. Today was the worst of all, absolutely no structure. Has he lost faith in Surridge, why does Ince come on before Doughty. These are worrying times.. Or, have the players lost faith in MON. Given the crap performances at home, there is either no system or the players just don't give a damn How many times do we have to put up with a clueless manager and inept players.
