. . . . is Stoke City in tonight’s FA Cup draw. A home tie against ball number 47 would be very nice indeed.

I'll never understand why anyone wants to play the Vale
nearly every derby game, including ones we have won, have been utter shit
our record in cups against them is piss poor too
Harrogate, Barrow or Wimbledon away please
no one from the Championship please (Albion at a push)
Arsenal at home would be fine

I get why people don't want to play vale, but vale away would be an amazing occasion. The Potteries Derby is the forgotten derby.

Is not knowing the ball number some kind of 70's/80's thing?
It's always been said as far as I can remember back and that adds to the anticipation waiting to hear that number.

It’s not difficult to work out, it’s in alphabetical order. I can remember when nobody knew the numbers, I was a kid though I’m sure so early 90’s probably.

It used to be a radio 2 draw at 12:30 on the Monday You never knew the number and all you could hear was the ball pulled out of the bag followed by the number and you hoped it was either Stoke or not Now you know if it’s Stoke by the number that’s pulled out so it’s lost it’s magic as it was all serious with just the draw ….if was literally a 3 minute show where as soon as the last ball was out it finished with “ and that concludes the draw for the ( whatever ) round of the fa cup with ties played weekend of ( whenever )” Perhaps it’s just me

It's not the same without Graham Kelly squeaking his way through the draw.

I think it's cos of your age having never known it any differently it's a draw I love to this day. It had some mystery around it Bayern Having never known it any other way I get the anticipation from waiting to see/hear the ball number we are. I love the third round draw. Knowing what numbers the big teams are, the non-league hopers etc.

How does knowing the numbers reduce the magic of the draw? Also, magic is perhaps overstating the anticipation somewhat. Either road, I just hope we are read out as the home team, and then clench in wait for the opponent.

For most of the 90s the number wasn't known I don't think? Is a 21st Century thing, think it maybe came in halfway through the 2010s?
Is rubbish anyway.
