Some jobs are just a poisoned chalice. Hard to believe where Ipswich are now, growing up they were a real powerhouse and we had our pants pulled down plenty of times by them.

I too thought he'd do very well. Wonder with what happened here with Jones and not having his usual side kicks with him, has affected Cook at Ipswich with Leam Richardson staying on at Wigan as manager there?
Are we entering an era of football where the assistant manager is becoming more and more important?

My mate went to a South Shields game instead the other week because he couldn't stomach it. They are only 2 points off the top though! which seems odd because they've had some terrible results this season

Not according to this, and he gave V to one supporter not crowd. www.readytogo.net/smb/threads/fan-at-the-end-with-johnson.1566073/

I thought Lambert was doing a decent job at Ipswich when he was sacked. Cook has done worse, though he hasn't had a full season.

That’s not to say I want O’Neill to leave by the way

What about Colin Viljoen? 😊 Yep that’s a name I’d forgot about and McCall as well I saw this show earlier, Ipswich at Birmingham team was Cooper, Burley, McCall, Thissen, Osman, Butcher, Wark, Muhren, Mariner, Brazil, O'Callaghan sub Turner. Gates was suspended after being sent off in a 5-3 loss at Spurs in the previous midweek, Mills, Club Captain then, was injured. They won 3-1 (Mariner, Wark, Brazil) Birmingham had a few good players on too, Curbishley, Todd, Gemmill, Givens, Worthington and our very own Keith Bertschin It was 80-81, a great season for Ipswich, finished second to Villa in the league, lost to Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final and won the UEFA Cup against AZ Alkmaar, over two legs in those days.
