Sooner Angela is gone the better. Can't forgive her when she admitted turning off the radio (during lockdown) when she was on duty. There are a few on here that would lynch you for saying that....

Strange….I listened to the whole game on BBC Radio Stoke internet radio and beginning of P&G. I’m down in Devon and normally get the contractual message when trying to list to Championship games but have noticed before the FA and League Cup games commentary is broadcast across the internet BBC Radio Stoke. I assume that they do not have the rights to cover the matches online in the championship, though the BBC does for the FA cup The lack of P&G may also be contractual restrictions or amateurish fuckwitery I’m betting on amateurish fuckwittery

If your using a smart speaker, Alexa and the like you get it through BBC sounds which can't play commenrty live that's why you get the this program is unavailable DAB and FM usually have the games but BBC stoke use all 3 platforms for the 3 normal matchday games, one is usually FM one DAB and one on MW/free view.

I listened to the game yesterday using Alexa. Started listening to P&G at 5pm but stopped because I went out not because it went off line. Can’t get Championship commentary on any platform probably because we’re out of area in Devon.

Really? Then I'm prepared to make that sacrifice, in order for others to enjoy their Saturday afternoons.

Nige's commentary around the sending off, penalty and outfield player going in goal was beyond embarrassing.
He literally hadn't a clue what was happening. He was all over the shop.

Yep, he forgot he was commentating and had a private debate with himself as to what was going on. It was quite a while before he actually stated it was a penalty. Great servant to Radio Stoke but needs to step down now, the game’s too quick for his thought process and the names are too double-barrelled for the old boy…

My favourite bit was. "Who's gone in goal? He's wearing the Number 30."

To be fair to Nige, even being sat behind the goal live at the game it wasn't clear what was happening for a good minute or so. Samba waited around for ages after his red card before handing his shirt to their outfield player, definitely a stalling tactic. & while all that commotion was sorting itself out it was a surprise to see Baker placing the ball down for a peno (which was expertly slotted away I might add).. Was a fair bit going on literally out of what appeared to be no more than a head pat! Obviously hadn't heard Niges commentary so unsure how bad it actually was but there was definately confusion in the stands so may explain abit why Nige was abit cafuffled as the above post suggests it was.. 😉🤣

Enjoy Big Nige while he's still commentating. He'll be sadly missed when he hangs his microphone up.
The bloke is a true icon, and it'll be sad to see him go.

Anyone unfortunate enough to have endured 90 minutes of Lee Trundle on a recent stream of the Swansea game will be on their feet applauding your sentiments.

The commentary position was poor today with people standing up and blocking the view when there was action in and around the penalty area.

Do you have access to the “commentary area”? And I think I speak for most of us on here, did you stand next to Nige in the bogs? Is he called the “Potters Python” for nothing?

People need to remember that commentary doesn't include 20 different video angles available to Nige / whenever - they see what we see as a fan. Nigel and Ange come from Stoke, support Stoke abs are both legends so wind yer necks in you heathens

Nigel and Ange come from Stoke, support Stoke abs are both legends so wind yer necks in you heathens Several times this season there's been reference to a monitor they've been looking at? Sure it's only recent Premier League stadia that has press boxes with the little monitors set up for the commentators to use to assist them during games. It was one of the upgrades we were expected to install in improving our media facilties when we were initially promoted to the Premier League. The City Ground hasn't hosted Premier League football since 1998 so very much they'll have these monitors installed there. I've sat in the press box at Stoke for a match before & whilst they do show the odd replay of certain events & are definitely worth having, they definitely aren't as good as you'd think they'd be & only assist to a point. The Stand the Press box is housed In at Forest definitely isn't great and is quite reminiscent of a stand you'd find in League One or Two. Not sure if the locals like it for nostalgia purposes as its where Cloughie once patrolled but that stand definitely looks like it's ready for bulldozing down & rebuilding. Even the Trent End & Brian Clough stands have been standing for a while now but still give the stadium a more modern feel to it, just let down by the Peter Taylor Stand. *I've just checked & Forest have submitted plans to rebuild that stand so sure the Press facilities will be greatly improved when that takes shape.

Maybe Nige could be used to just offer a second opinion once in each half and be replaced by another commentator. That way he could be moved aside gracefully which he thoroughly deserves after his years of service.

nige is stoke through and through, not like some of the fickle tactical geniouses that post on here,,,i would rather hear him getting excited when we score than some imported bbc young hack(yes, everyone, even nige started somewhere),pretending he is a stokie.nige is our murray walker,no doubt about that!.PS,i am a big pej fan but the other night it was like listening to an old codger,i know ,because i am an old codger.

[Hidden microphone - Radio Stoke Production office] Nige: “I see those fuckers on the Oatie are at it again. Don’t they know I’m 107 years’ old? I’d like to see them do what I do when I’ve got to keep one eye on Clive Clarke’s defibrillator. So what if they’d used all their substitutes? I can remember when you could only leave the pitch if you were carrying at least one of your severed limbs. I’ll check my notes, but I’m sure I didn’t miss anything like that. Anyway, pass me that bong - I’ll be in the car park to see if my if my “Lena Zavaroni to win Masked Singer” bet has come in.”

The word legend is over used, but I would say that as a fanatical Stoke supporter, and a former professional squash player who for a decade or more was one of the highest ranked players in the world, Angela Smith is probably a legend to quite a few people.

Angela is pretty sharp, don't see why she gets any hate.
Agreed r.e. Nige, not in a mean way because he has been brilliant. But understandably at his age he's not quite on it anymore and it does feel like he struggles now with very fundamental and basic things.
