It’s completely passed me by until now that Ramsdale is from Stoke. Looks like the first professional side that picked him up was Sheffield United.
So that’s Ramsdale, Ben Brereton (Diaz!), Jack Harrison and Mike Williamson (ex Newcastle United) that were local lads done good elsewhere.
Any others we’ve missed out on?

Harrison left Stoke when he was young (12?) moved to Bolton (I think) Brereton was on our books & we let him go > because he wasn't showing much > good example of a player blossoming later Williamson, was he on Vales books at one point? ordinary player tbh Ramsdale, no idea re him

Ramsdale was in Boltons academy before moving to Sheffield united. I think he was briefly at Stoke before that but his dad (a WBA fan) said Stokes academy was a cluster F at the time. his mums brother played for stoke during the holocaust

As for missing out on , according to the kangaroo court on here he's horrific so we've missed out on nothing.

Robbie Earle and Mark Bright would have helped resolve a few of our ‘woes’ in the 80s and 90s.

Its the way of the world these days, we have players from a young age from all over the place, as do most clubs.

Don't think Mike Williamson grew up in the area (based on starting his career at Torquay), nor did Jack Harrison. Curtis Nelson (Cardiff CB) is local.

Yes Robbie the one we fooked off after he had a broken leg playing for us we thought it best to let him go. Somehow has managed to land an in-game pundit job in the States. Not sure anyone in the US would be able to say who he is to be honest.

Cant think of many we released who went on to great things but you would certainly put Robbie Earle in that bracket Maybe not as bad as Inter releasing Franco Baresi in favour of his older brother, but pretty galling none the less

He was originally with Sheffield United and was signed by Bournemouth from them,on relegation he re-signed for the blades.
