What a job he's done.
From nailed on relegation to top six contenders.
What a guy.

Outstanding job considering the circumstances he walked into and like I said after the game on Saturday 136 points from 94 league games at 1.45 points per game is a good record in my opinion.I’m sure Colin Murray read that on here and used it on Saturday nights Quest also 🤔🤣

I don't think it's unfair to say that when he walked in it was one of the toughest gigs in League management.
Well done Michael, long may it continue.

Really interesting isn’t it….
Pulis I was dead against him when he got appointed but did brilliantly for us. The end was tedious but I’m really talking about when they were appointed.
Hughes I wasn’t sure about but went along with it and he did well with some great seasons. Again not commenting on the end when he was kept on too long.
Lambert didn’t want him and we got what we deserved.
Rowett not sure I warmed to him but thought he was an up and coming so understood why they went for him. He was a disaster and the main reason in my view for the mess we were in.
Jones I got succoured in and was prepared to give him time. Shocking case of talked a good game but clearly could not deliver.
MON was not my first choice at the time as I was in the Moyes camp but clearly we couldn’t get him. I accepted MON readily as having the adult in the room after Jones. I haven’t been disappointed and given the total shambles he inherited he has done brilliantly given the FFP constraints he is under. Goaarnnn Michael finish the job and get us promoted. I hope he can squeeze a bit more backing in January.
With several other clubs in the mix this year it’s going to be tough but I think we are capable of play offs with a bit of Jan support? That said if he doesn’t make it this season I am happy for him to keep going as we have seen linear progress so would expect a bit more next year as he gets further to grips with the squad.

Just think what he can do with our club in another 2 years.
The progress we've made on and off the pitch has been outrageously positive.

His win percentage is 41% which is very impressive considering the mess we were in after the disasters of Lambert Rowett and Jones.

Where are all those numpties calling for his head last week?
What a bunch of excuses of fans and complete utter wallops to boot.
2 years ago bottom of the league and with zero money - he has now made us disappointed if we not in amongst play offs.
I hope those so called ‘fans’ learn how to shut their traps and feck off posting on here, it’s a choice to be so abjectly negative about everything and anything, we’ve had a torrid period as a club and with all the other stuff that’s happened within the world/community it’s time for a bit of positivity around the place. It’s time to enjoy it a bit, even when we aren’t trouncing an opposition, thangs can just be ok ya know?!
Let’s get behind this young squad and help given them some confidence and while the true fans are doing that if they happen to pipe up, just kick a boo boy in the nuts.

But he’s never managed in England or the Championship before, so it’s absolutely impossible for him to succeed here.

I would put him in the same bracket as Dean Smith in that he stabilised Villa, took them forward, then has stalled as he has limitations. It is a reality not a criticism, and this I feel will be Michael O'Neil. I hope not but recent events show him being blind to Chesters inability to mark people, and failure to game manage ala Cardiff. His subs are the thing that makes me feel he does not react to situations, so has limited scope to take us forward. Sincerely hope I am wrong, seems to be honest and trying his best, but will that be good enough to get us back up and stay there??

Thanks Micheal 2 years of real progress for our club after 5 years of a massive downward spiral. The job of streamlining and changing a massive squad made up mainly of overated arseholes with your hands tied financially has been incredible. Modern football is so kneejerk know its ridiculous. 2 wins and we're on the right track and 3 defeats MON and all the players are shit fuck em all off. Thank god MON is able to keep a clear head when things don't go right all the time which they never will for Stoke. We aren't perfect on the pitch far from it but there is a gameplan there now and a its like night and day the amount of energy on the pitch compared to 2 years ago.

He definitely walked in to a basket case club ...so he's done well in the circumstances
I do think it's relevant that the two teams leading the championship , have the league's two best strikers ( Mitrovic and Solanke ) . If we had someone of that level... A Ricardo fuller or a James beattie ...we would obviously be higher too
I think considering that we don't have a striker of the level of Mitrovic / Solanke / fuller / beattie , he has done a good job .
If we did , we would be higher than fifth , which is not bad .
After a season of much moaning about Jacob brown , the player is starting to improve and opinion is starting to turn.
Will be interesting to see if MoN can help Surridge find his feet.

I’m looking forward to assessing the intent of the club in how it supports MON next summer and during the following January window with so many player contracts up and loanees probably returning to their own clubs. We could be seeing a significantly changed (strengthened ) 1st Team Squad (inc. players coming through the system) for a real promotion push MON fully deserves the opportunity to become a club legend in a short list of managers

He’s been brilliant.
And he’s learning on the job and seems to be getting better all the time.
Has made mistakes but seems well able to learn from them. Also seems to have created a togetherness in the squad that we haven’t had in years.

Considering we were a basket case of a club and on our way down to the lower leages, from which it could have taken years to recover, his time here has been nothing short of amazing. He's not perfect and still has a lot of work to do but at the moment I wouldn't want anyone other than MON here.
Well done Boss.

He’s done a good job in balance over two years but lets not kid ourselves success is promotion achieved however and thats his task over the next two seasons and that will be the boardroom view as much as any other , we have seen elsewhere that others don’t have the patience our board have but he will get the time and the support where possible so id say it’s job half done , and the next 18 months will tell

I actually like his brand of football that he is trying to get us to play. After years of low scoring teams, he does have a more attacking mentality than I would have expected given his background as NI manager.
His in game management, including subs being made way too late is a BIG weakness that has been around for some time. Maybe after the recent capitulations he will learn to make changes earlier now. He does seem to learn from mistakes and progress to the next level.
He also needs to be praised for using and buying younger players.
Another issue I would like rectified is that he does focus on British based players for recruitment.
Overall very happy with him and the way he comes across. Football is exciting once again even if we dont win every game

MON is 2 years with the club. Comments I've read include: 1. He's lost the dressing room. 2.He hasn't got a clue 3. He doesn't want to win games. 4. He can't motivate players. 5. He should be sacked. 6. Top 6 by xmas or he should go. 7. Has wasted money that we can't afford on players. 8. Fans see what needs to be done in games before he does. 9. He's a coward. 10. Should easily have got into playoffs last year. 11.His team, his players, his results, Should be sacked. record is abysmal. 12.With this squad anything less than the play offs would be a failure. 13.The midfield needs a DM but if we did that I’d expect more than play offs. 14.Overall he’s massively overrated, I think he’s underachieving. 15.If we are happy with mid table then we stick with MON. 16. I saw zero evidence he knows how to get out of this league 17.I’ve always backed him but we aren’t improving enough. 18.I’m sorry but even by some miracle he got us into the playoffs I’d still want him gone. 19. New Manager. He could have the Barcelona squad and we still wouldn’t win. 20.However, I just doubt he has the tactical nous to turn us into promotion contenders.
And this is from the Club's fans.

A year ago many were predicting relegation, especially if we suffered a points deduction over FFP. Nobody mentioned the top six. Most thought that it would be june 22 before he could clear the decks and begin to create his own team. I think what he has managed to do so far is remarkable. He has cut the number of players by 30, slashed the wage bill by at least half, changed the age profile of the team completely and improved our points tally. He introduced Souttar to the team and improved him and Brown enormously. Already you can see Surridge getting better. He has the team beginning to play much better football. In June he will finally be free of financial restrictions and should be able to aim for promotion. I still don't think he will waste money on transfers like our previous managers. I think MON is very methodical about building a side and given time will be very successful. I just wonder about the people who wrote the 20 statements above.
