If he left tomorrow, for whatever reason, he could turn around and confidently state "I left this club in a much better position than I found it". That, above everything else, is the mark of a good tenure.
At some point, his tenure will start to stale and the difference between the awful state he found us in and the state we are at that time will begin to narrow. At that point you make a decision whether we need to move on.
I personally hope that doesn't come for a long time.

A steady hand on the tiller when we were heading for the rocks and a local derby was a real possibility
He has in a short space of time turned the ship round and its pointing towards the Premiership in the next few years ,everybody should be on board to help him get us there

Where are all those numpties calling for his head last week? What a bunch of excuses of fans and complete utter wallops to boot. 2 years ago bottom of the league and with zero money - he has now made us disappointed if we not in amongst play offs. I hope those so called ‘fans’ learn how to shut their traps and feck off posting on here, it’s a choice to be so abjectly negative about everything and anything, we’ve had a torrid period as a club and with all the other stuff that’s happened within the world/community it’s time for a bit of positivity around the place. It’s time to enjoy it a bit, even when we aren’t trouncing an opposition, thangs can just be ok ya know?! Let’s get behind this young squad and help given them some confidence and while the true fans are doing that if they happen to pipe up, just kick a boo boy in the nuts. I haven’t as yet criticised O’Neil But if I feel the need I will and it won’t make Me any less of a true supporter than anyone else on this board And if any one wants to kick me in the balls there more than welcome to try I don't think anyone objects to reasoned criticism. Like any other manager, MON will make mistakes. However there is a small group of posters who are all over this forum when we lose but go strangely quiet after a win. They give the impression that they would rather we lose than be proved wrong.

Two years of progress- not continual, but progress rarely is- there are a few forward steps, stagnation, regression, then periods of progress again, blind alleys, periods when we're really in the doldrums, etc etc. It's an emotional business being a football fan, and easy to get carried away during the good times and throw your toys out of the pram during the difficult times. MON is a level-headed manager though; he doesn't panic when things are going badly and surely by now we've seen enough to trust him.
No manager gets everything right, but he's an absolute genius compared to the last few duffers we've had, and I'd be gutted if he left us for any reason.

He’s done a good job in balance over two years but lets not kid ourselves success is promotion achieved however and thats his task over the next two seasons and that will be the boardroom view as much as any other , we have seen elsewhere that others don’t have the patience our board have but he will get the time and the support where possible so id say it’s job half done , and the next 18 months will tell Has your account been hacked? Over the years you have been a bell end of biblical proportions, but I think you have finally said something sensible. Praise the lord🙏

Cartwright makes it very clear, the Manager makes the buying decisions Does he also explain the context? That there are only 3 players to choose from and the other two are shut, one has been advocated for by himself through (own cough interests) lack of research, and then the manager can choose to go against the supposed specialists or to simply 'yes' (nice inference of yes man). I believe suggesting it all falls on the manager is a sign of systemic failure. The entire transfer team should suggest that they all share the responsibility of finding successful talent and those that we sign and don't are the failure of the entire team. Continue to fail, change the system and research method. I don't see how you could fail with the tens of millions available in our prem era. I mean, Jesse...really? 8m loan for Zouma or find and develope potential upcoming talents in the championship? It's clear Hughes used his contacts for the Barca group, but we're was our Nzonzi replacement? Our CB leader to take over from Shawx? Our Arnie, with more potential? Our recruitment was and has been pretty disastrous ever since Cartwright joined the Frey. Easy money and no vision is how I would describe his approach.

MON has taken us from a burning clowncar heading straight to league 1 with a bunch of very overpaid players who looked like they couldn’t care less to a decent (much younger) squad with a shot of playoffs
All while when you consider the Collins sale having spend no money and bringing down the wage bill
Absolutely outstanding

Going off thread 25 years to the day since Chelsea signed Zola Great player and although Chelsea have never really been a club the neutral could like everyone liked Zola I always remember the array of sports cars at the club car park on Football Focus and Zola turning up on his scooter.
