I've noticed a couple of times this season that when there is discourse about player selection, MON has selected players that have been the subject of the discourse. On this occasion he selected Batth. Is this coincidence? Surely he isn't persuaded. Well done for tonight Stoke, this is a very tight league.

Batth was abysmal tonight. Much worse than Chester has played all season but he got away with it.

If you’re referring to discourse on here then that’s hilarious. MoN couldn’t give a fuck what the knobsticks on here post.

Maybe the issues are so obvious that even us dimwits can understand?

Baath was woeful first half and nearly gifted them a goal with an errant pass. Second half he only had to defend long balls and hoof it.

That was first half was about as bad a CB display we’ve had this season.

Batth was abysmal tonight. Much worse than Chester has played all season but he got away with it. Oh dear Oh dear? He was lucky not to have been directly at fault for 3 goals. He was all over the shop. The pass to let them in being the best of the night just ahead of the weak as shit fall. He got very lucky. But this is the oatcake so if doesn’t cost a goal it doesn’t matter despite it abysmal. Very strange.

I like Batth. He has his limitations but I feel a hell of a lot better with him in the side than Chester. He’s physically streets ahead of Chester which you need in this league. That said Id start with Ostigaard, Souter and Willmot.

Which he did very well He went from a 4 to a 5 in my rating because second half he quit trying to play the ball and he just had to defend. If he had a better first half, I'd of given him a 6 or 7 but he was awful then.

Wasn't that more to do with how bad Blackpool were? Did Bursik have to make a save? Yet they had plenty of opportunity to shoot - the defence didn't keep them out but agree Bahht was much better second half when he moved left away from the role where he was the linchpin of the passes which is what Souttar usually does so well.

A clean sheet, which hasn’t happened very often when Chester has played. Was it the Watford win when he played really well and was dropped? Should keep the shirt on Saturday to see if we can get another one.

That first half was a calamity from him. It doesn’t matter how long you haven’t played for the pass and the fall shouldn’t be happening. Ostigard Souttar Wilmot is our best back 3 by a considerable distance.

We should have been 2-3 down because of Batth in the first half. There was one where the commentators were saying there was a foul on him but it wasn't, it was awful defending. Batth, Chester, and dare I say it Wilmot, are all not good enough to play in a back 3.

Batth will never be very good on the ball. He looked a bit rusty in the first half, but still he gives everything and shows he really cares. He made a couple of mistakes in the first half, but he also fixed them himself. Still he gives us so much more protection than Chester, and his ability to win headers and block shots is second to none.

He’d be shit but we kept a clean sheet so it was fine. That first half from Batth was the single most worst CB display this season. We were lucky we didn’t concede 3 goals directly because of him. Thankfully we didn’t but it doesn’t absolve him from the slating he should be getting for it. Ultimately he and Chester are wank.

Did you miss when he passed it straight to their player and he should have scored? He was a calamity. Just because we kept a clean sheet doesn’t mean he defended well.

Batth was abysmal tonight. Much worse than Chester has played all season but he got away with it. Abysmal? He was many things, he wasn’t abysmal. I think Souttar had more confidence with him nearby. He should never be in the middle of a back 3 for me at the cost of Souttar but I understand why he’s done it, and I’d take him over Chester any day

For me there are both positives and negatives in playing Batth:
Positive(s); - he is an out and out defender. - he is tall and wins his share of balls in the air. - good character. - has a goal threat about him from set plays.
Negatives: - limited footballing ability. - not the quickest. - prone to an error (but aren’t they all at the moment) but the biggest one for me at the moment is - playing a back three he is best suited to playing as the central one - that’s Souttar’s best position, so his inclusion meant that Souttar went right and Willmot went left - the whole back three changed for his inclusion.
Was happy that he started and I would have started him too but I do see the issue(s) with his inclusion in the starting 11 (balance).
