I’m just providing some statistics nothing more. Not trying to suggest either are good or bad. I appreciate though that you recognise we tend to do better with Davies in goal. Like the stat with Chester, I don’t think it’s much to do with him. What is the Chester stat? The difference between Chester and Davies is one is part of a 5 man defence and the other is the last line of defence. This is why we have emergency signings for goalkeepers compared to other positions. So again, I agree that whatever these stats are on Chester; they don’t hold as much strength as these goalkeeper ones

Opposing teams consistently attack our keepers coming from the right side far too easily.
To counter that: We either need to identify/kidnap a Methamphetamine-laced Octopus. Or...we could address the issue with the rest of the defense. ad nauseum...

Yup we need a Sorenson type signing, or a Nash, Crossley, Simo. Anyone really who is any good. Our young group are either not ready or full of mistakes.

I honestly didn't think he was that old (not old for a keeper)... He should be commanding the n1 shirt. The fact that he's not says it all.

It's not a mistake though is it, between them they have cost us several times this season all ready. It's not solely the keepers fault. Can't blame bursik for 2 of Cardiff's goals can you? I agree but the first one which he should save all day long lets them back in, and I was referring to simple errors that both goal keepers have made that have nothing to do with anything other than themselves.

There's a lot more to this than individual mistakes - both keepers are clearly making too many mistakes at the moment (one or two mistakes is par, more than that is too many) but arguably, the most important element is the confidence that the keeper inspires. I'm guessing that Davies inspires more than Bursik. Certainly, the first goal on Saturday was a howler, and maybe he couldn't do much about the other two, but the fact of the matter is, the defence went to pieces after that first goal, and arguably, his mistake with the first goal had a lot to do with what happened subsequently. (Let's not forget that Cardiff actually scored three more, not just two - I didn't watch it again to see why the fourth was offside but the fact that the defence crumbled again for that one, how do you explain that if it's not intangibles like confidence in your goalkeeper? In any case, MON has to make the decision and I'd be amazed if he's not looking at the confidence factor as well as everything else.

He bollocks him up hill and down dale in most games.

I don't really need to all I'm saying is at this level we have 2 keepers that are making basic mistakes that I'd be pissed off at playing on a Sunday morning in the park. Yes Joe is young yes he may well be great in the future blah blah blah Davis is 29 and making basic mistakes, we need another keeper in my opinion.

The issue is he’s one of two keepers making horrendous mistakes almost every single game. We’re at the point now where we need to put the one who makes the least in, and that’s a tough one. Ideally none of them play they’ve lost us points and games on too much of a consistent basis that a goalkeeper (young or old) should be making at this level of professional football.

The funny thing is I recall Davies making a mistake and calls for him to be dropped and vice Versa with Bursik. I’d stick with Davies now for a run of games, rather than swapping every other week. Not sure if we need a replacement then that’s more money spent elsewhere… I’m not sure. If he goes back to Davies now that’s the definition of swapping every other week isn’t it? There’s no way he’ll change them again now surely, if he does it’ll be a clear sign he’s completely lost it for me.

Sometimes this message boards great, a lot of the time it’s down right embarrassing with some of the shit that’s posted.
Bursik has made a couple of mistakes but he’s also made some cracking saves and is the current England U21 keeper. Davies has made some mistakes as well but his clean sheet record is insane.
Some of you lot need to take a long hard look at yourselves

Davies is wank. A nothing. A no mark. This fetish for him is very strange. Your fetish for first never giving anyone credit once you’ve red flagged them is very strange. Davies has had some cracking games for us

Not if he’s still looking for his No1, I’m just not sure who it should be, stick with Bursik and hope he sorts out these mistakes, or go with Davies who is older and less likely to develop but looks more assured on the whole. They’ve both dropped some clangers this season and although I’d prefer Davies I’m not sure there’s much separating them at present.

We don't need a new keeper in Jan. The two we have are competent enough but just not performing at the minute. Apart from the fuck up Bursik has played well since he returned. Keep him in goal for the next 4 games and see how it goes.

You are directing your disappointment in the wrong place, imo.

Keep him in goal for the next 4 games and see how it goes. It would be crazy to swap them again, Davies made quite a few mistakes and looked genuinely scared in some of the games. Bursik made one mistake at the weekend but he looks far more confident, he deserves a run of games like Davies had and if he can't find the form necessary to make the shirt his own then we'll have to look at bringing in a more experienced keeper in January. I see no point in putting Davies back in there unless Bursik suffers a horrendous loss of form, Davies is not good enough to be our first choice keeper, Bursik might be good enough given the opportunity to learn, but even if he isn't then I'd still rather him be our temporary number one until January when we have the opportunity to address the problem.

I think we need to settle on a keeper and perhaps stop blaming them when defence also goes AWOL. MON should have tightened up when we went 3-0 and bought Danny on. Lots of issues with tactics, too slow and always reactive not active. Dreamy states players get in (3 games now where we given a lead away!) concentrate FFS!! It's nothing to do with a keeper, that's not what we need in Jan.

The first one I watched was his top 10 mistakes, the 2nd being identical to one Joe did a few weeks ago where he came well off his line and missed the ball, misjudging it. This is supposedly one of, if not, the best keeper of the last 10-15 years. People really need to wake up and stop expecting a goalkeeper to never make an error.

But who out of the two we have, commands his area and gels with the defence, plays the better sweeper, accurate kicks/passing - then you start talking about crosses and finally shot saving. Surely SCFC have the stats, unless we have some wizards on here who know these facts?

Surely SCFC have the stats, unless we have some wizards on here who know these facts? Neither of them command anything, neither of them gel with our defence first off lets be honest. Losing a 3 goal lead last go round isn't "gelling". Bursik is the better sweeper keeper and distributor no doubt, but he should stay in goal because that his where is errors usually begin, when he thinks he's Ederson. You know Blackpool have seen our keepers the past few weeks on tape and I'm confident they've been told take shots against Stoke.
