Something happened tonight far greater than the 3 points I believe - I saw the team realise that we are genuine contenders in this league. The reaction at the end from the team was a realisation that with this support they are good enough to be in the mix this time. They also saw for the first time the affect that a noisy home crowd can give to them, and the part that we can play. They felt that 12th man tonight, and many of those players haven’t felt that before. They realised that connection tonight. Before tonight I feel many of the team and supporters thought we hadn’t the ability to match teams like West Brom. We were a Nearly team. We totally bossed that match and everyone saw it and now I think they realise we have the quality required. The switch was turned on tonight. No longer a Nearly team. We can be top 2 and I think the players know that now.
WE ARE BACK

I'd say the most stunning aspect of tonight was that we didn't go on to draw 0-0 or lose to the dreaded sucker punch. Just before we scored I commented on the matchday that it's a horrible position to be in going into the final stage, that it's 0-0 and if we don't win we're going to be gutted; never mind how we'd feel if we had gotten done by the smash n grab. But for whatever shortcomings, this team is starting to build a unified grit and starting to become one that doesn't inevitably leave you gutted and angry. That's a huge shift from what we've become accustomed to over the last half decade.

For me, that happened at Preston. The way we over ran them was sensational at times.
Although we didn’t win that game, the belief flowed into tonight’s performance.
Let’s consign the Stoke Strollers to history and maintain this high tempo approach for the rest of the season.

I know it’s a really simple point, but I really like this team. I get the sense the players really enjoy playing for Stoke and playing for the fans as well as for MON
Compare that to when MON came in when we hated the players and they seemed to hate us just as much 😂

I love the fact that disappointments ( Derby, Barnsley, Preston ) don't knock the belief for the next game. It's a real team with a great relentless spirit

Always good going in to an international break after beating top of the league convincingly
If we get tyrese back in good form we’ll be too much for anybody in this league

For me last night was easily our best Championship performance since relegation and reminded me of the way we utterly dominated Man City in that 2-0 game.
Hit the post, had a goal very softly disallowed, hit the bar, missed a penalty and Surridge probably should have scored from that Tymon cross - honestly could have been 4 or 5 last night against a team who are top of the league and very likely to be promoted.
Think/hope it’s going to be a massive result for the team’s self-belief - there’s no one for us to be frightened of in this league.

It's been staring us in the face all season that we have a good Championship side. Last night was the best performance for sure
For me the only out and out bad performance - and it was bad - was Derby
Couple of the other games we have been average but had little spells of good stuff e.g. Huddersfield

I've been banging the drum all season that we won't get top 6 at all as we aren't good enough.
The only conclusion to draw after last night is that we are roaring our way to the title.

We'll be inconsistent along the way, the key is to try to be the 'least inconsistent' team.

I'm feeling good about our fans.
I think most of us have realised that there will be ups and downs now - we have plenty of weaknesses but can play great stuff. MON has earned our support and will get us more ups than downs.

It was great to have a proper gate again, looked a bit sparse in places in the main stand but it was amazing to hear the noise once more. As others have said, the team’s become loveable again and with that comes the will to shout them on. They must feel it. It must be electrifying. Hopefully our numbers will swell, expectations will be set high and results will consistently follow. Buzzing after last night. Great to see a crowd and great to beat West Brom again. I have a good feeling about this 😀 [/quote]
