This will be a fiddly game. Hungary are a good side and Budapest is a hostile venue.
After the glorious Euro campaign a lot of people will be hoping for a chance to sharpen their swords and stick them in. The history of June and July will be rewritten and each step bullishly criticised. A return to misplaced bluster is imminent.
Anyway, in reality, a draw will be a decent result in this. And a big step close to qualification
3 lions on a shirt etc.

Hungary are a better side than lots give them credit for too. It wasn’t just about the home advantage in the Euros.
I still expect us to win because we have a genuinely very very good side.
Is there any talk of Bellingham starting?
He’s been getting rave reviews again for Dortmund and we need someone in midfield who can keep the ball.

Southgate's England are a different England than the one we've become used to. Think we will beat them

Anything less than 3 points would be disappointing. Hungary are no pushovers but we should still have far too much for them.

I'd go 4-3-3
Pickford
Alexander-Arnold Stones Maguire Shaw
Bellingham Rice Phillips
Sterling Kane Grealish

Why was Greenwood playing in a friendly yesterday and not in this squad?
Seems very strange.

I'd go 4-3-3 Pickford Alexander-Arnold Stones Maguire Shaw Bellingham Rice Phillips Sterling Kane Grealish The Rice/Phillips axis is a touch boring. Bellingham should eventually be able to play alongside Rice with Mount/Foden or Grealish in front hopefully.

I think tonight will be a tough, tight affair and I think we'll need to be really solid and look to dominate possession and nick it. I agree for certain games it's not required, Andorra at home certainly being one of them!

I'd imagine The Shit are pleased he hasn't been called up & would expect they have had a word with The FA &/or Southgate 'asking' that he not be called up

He's lots better than I thought he was. thing is though he's actually decent in the attacking 3rd. I'll always remember while 1-0 up in the final the game opening up for him to have a shot and instead of trying score he stopped and passed backwards. I wondered if we had a fear of winning.

There were a few times he strode forwards and just looked lost/out of his comfort area when he got too far up the pitch. I like Rice though, a very good footballer but needs someone like Bellingham alongside him who is more complete. And Phillips did well in the Euros on the whole but he’s too defensive on the whole to be played with another more defence minded player.

The sooner we get rid of Kane the better, then we could be a top level team.
In summer football he's a liability

The current Hungarian side reminds me of us during the tone days. Not amazing technically overall, but dogged pressure and great defense looking for a counter on the edge. Should be a tough opponent for England.

He’s been an issue for England for a while now hasn’t he? I must have imagined his crucial goals in the Euros (after his admittedly slow start) His only good game was the Ukraine one. Thought he looked poor in the rest. He just stands out like a sore thumb in comparison those around him who are fluid and mobile. He looks so static and immobile. And gets in their way. We’ve got to start getting Greenwood up front in this side and get Delap in the u21’s.

I must have imagined his crucial goals in the Euros (after his admittedly slow start) Joint with Lineker for most goals scored in competitive matches. Must be crap. Terrible start to the Euros, then did what he always does. Scored goals. Will be interesting to know who will step up to take his place. Greenwood is supposed to be a good finisher, but I’ve only watched him a few times, wasn’t overly impressed and it looks like he won’t get much game time for Utd now.

Pickford Walker Maguire Stones Shaw Rice Phillips Mount Grealish Kane Sterling
4-3-3 and a very good side is that one.
Would like to see Bellingham get his chance for Phillips otherwise it’s strong as can be
