Great to get off to a winning start and it was nice to watch the game with the belief that we could go up and score and win the game. Whereas last season there was a lengthy period were we were struggling to score goals. Can't help but feel that alot of fans would of criticised MON and the Surridge/Clucas for Fletcher/Powell substitution had we not won the game. Similar to how the commentator was criticising it when made. In the end though Vrancic being pushed further forward and doing a dummy for Surridge is what won us the game. For sure, yes. Nice to see us not drop our heads when they scored. Shocking for their first goal, saw similar from Bursik last week was it? Not sure what he was doing. Wasn't just him at fault but put it in the bloody stand and none of this trying to play it out in positions like that.

Great to win our first game and score 3 goals, but we really need to improve quickly. End to end game that could have gone either way. We were never in control of the game.Despite scoring a fine goal Powell was very poor. Anything could have happened, be interesting to see what MON has to say.

It’s very fine margins football. We got what we deserved. Onwards and upwards.

A couple of lovely deflections with the Brown and Surridge goals. About time we had some luck.

You watching this game? 😅😂 Any idea how long it takes to score a goal? (Tip: it's shorter than 20 minutes) Scoreline and result aside, you really think that team that played today resembles a promotion side?

Great to see us being so positive with 6 men in their box at times, but our ball retention was very poor. Nice pace about the game which led to an exciting match ,full of incident. Thought Wilmot, despite his faults made Smith look a million dollars and we seem to be a threat at last from corners.

I thought he was positive and inventive in the first half and took a poachers goal But second half I thought I was looking for fouls to get free kicks, fouling himself, not pressing like the first half and generally got lazy. The team looked very good going forward but exposed to counters. Still it's there first serious match together and hopefully they will get tighter and more accurate.

Happy with the 3 points, but we were very vulnerable down our left side of defence. Fox & Tymon (who was positive in attack) cannot play many games together if we are to have a decent season.
Allen had abit of a mate, just sloppy on the ball and struggled defensively.
Smith was very good, Brown much improved & overall there’s things to be positive about.

Can't see how, Powell was poor 2nd half and sitting down stretching his toes back waiting to go off. Thought the subs were right ones.

Add a fully fit Campbell to the squad and our options up front are quite decent - better still if we get Delap. I still think we need a specialist defensive mid though - especially if we want to play Vrancic and Powell together. Those who don't see an improvement in Brown must be watching a different player to me. He's still learning but he looks like he has considerably improved since he joined us. Their defence didn't look as if they much enjoyed playing against him. The defence still needs some work but, I suppose it was Wilmot's first game and we have Souttar to come back. We still need someone on the right who can attack and defend - ironically Smith had a great game going forward with 2 assists. Brown was excellent today I thought (both on and off the ball). Allen isn't the answer at CDM unfortunately. Allen was poor at times, touch and distribution well below this level. He only had his engine which is lost at CDM

Excellent Result and that will help confidence Very hard to Judge at this stage in terms of whee we stand how good or bad are reading , two deflections midfield balance clearly not right but seem like we are looking at that
But set pieces look good Smith looked like a wing back we have a striking pool building , Vranic has a great delivery and brain even if his engine might need help , Souttar will help .we lookrd better with clucas on in terms of physical balance so I think it might be Allen ans clucas and one from Powell and vranic
I’d say still midtable at that but still time to improve the squad judging by WBA last night still some way to go but it’s positive v the end of last season

Dot. Disagree but we need to sort the middle of the pitch our in the next three weeks to be still in there but i think we will add two may be even three before the end of the month Decent bench today too

Had to laugh at the clown who ran up to the Stoke supporters and starting giving it large.

I enjoyed today more than all the games I streamed over the last 17 months put together. It was brilliant to be back among the people I have now sat with since the stadium opened and be so much more emotionally engaged in what was happening on the pitch. (Not trying to work out what is happening "off-screen" also reduces the frustration levels) I don't think I have ever been to a Stoke game before where every Stoke corner landed on the head or foot of a Stoke player! My hands are sore, as is my throat. I am out of practice!

Interesting quote “we’re disappointed we didn’t expose their weaknesses which in our opinion there are many”. Have to say I did think we looked a bit all over the place at the back and my overriding thought throughout was that a better side would have punished us on a number of occasions. O’Neil did mention after the game that he was concerned how easily we got into trouble with the ball over the top so hopefully it’s something he can rectify on the training ground.

Agree on a better team as a game it was along way short of last nights quality amd better teams would exploit those weaknesses
