I'm relieved. I thought we were awful against a team that will struggle.
Surridge showed that movement the stats people were talking about. If you get the ball in the box he will be in the right spot

Add a fully fit Campbell to the squad and our options up front are quite decent - better still if we get Delap. I still think we need a specialist defensive mid though - especially if we want to play Vrancic and Powell together.
Those who don't see an improvement in Brown must be watching a different player to me. He's still learning but he looks like he has considerably improved since he joined us. Their defence didn't look as if they much enjoyed playing against him.
The defence still needs some work but, I suppose it was Wilmot's first game and we have Souttar to come back. We still need someone on the right who can attack and defend - ironically Smith had a great game going forward with 2 assists.

Allen isn't the answer at CDM unfortunately.

Not sure if defending can be coached into Tommy at this stage of his career, but when it comes to crossing he has often done the business for us and he was superb today.

Good performance, and an excellent 3 points.
100% need a big, quick CDM though - if at least to provide more cover for the defence. Too easy for Reading to play through us at times.
Loving the look of Doughty, Wilmot, Surridge, Vrancic and a seemingly upgraded Brown.

Having a win attitude and appetite added to knowing where the goal actually is and what it's for will mean a massive turnaround for us.

Great to get off to a winning start and it was nice to watch the game with the belief that we could go up and score and win the game. Whereas last season there was a lengthy period were we were struggling to score goals.
Can't help but feel that alot of fans would of criticised MON and the Surridge/Clucas for Fletcher/Powell substitution had we not won the game. Similar to how the commentator was criticising it when made.
In the end though Vrancic being pushed further forward and doing a dummy for Surridge is what won us the game.

The 2 posts above say it all!! Awful -Good Which is it? Thought we had some good attacking play today. Some parts of the game weren't that good of course, and some of our defending were sloppy too. Still we created a lot of good opportunities and with Vrancic our set places looked dangerous all the time.
