All those defending him as banter. What would your reaction of been if Pope was on Twitter wearing a Crystal Palace top the day we were relegated.
It's all about knowing your boundaries, unfortunately this loon hasn't got any.
I've said it before though it's not the fact he attracts unwanted attention it is more the fact that some oink thought that a bang average run of the mill footballer was worth a staggering 5 year contract. That is what gets my ire.

Strange how the countless other Irish players who've played for Stoke or elsewhere in England have never attracted this level of attention. I know Lennon got some things through the post but that was by Rangers fans I think? We even had an Irishman as Club President and the current manager- like McClean- is a Northern Irish Catholic.
Still, it must be an anti Irish thing and nothing at all to do with JM being a bit of a twat.....

Pahahaaa the hysteria on this board 👌
☺️ So many sensitive little flowers. And the outrages seems to be from quite a few who I’ve seen on here happily, openly downgrading women and sentiments that verges on racism sooooo 🤷🏻♂️
The issue isn’t that McLean wore a shirt - the issue is that you find it an issue.
(Burt calmly climbs under the table puts fingers in ears and waits for all the outraged contradictions to blow over)

Ok, so if this is banter, then singing 'Eng-er-land, Eng-er-land' at JM is now most definitely fair game. Its not racist or sectarianism, its football related.

Even if he does stay another season to see out his contract he won't play in the first team again, certainly not with O'Neil in charge and that's partly because he's shite but also down to all the stupid and embarrassing things he's posted on social media. Wearing a German football shirt may not be as bad as taunting the manager, calling supporters cunts, bragging about breaking lock down rules or dressing up as an IRA terrorist but it could be the straw that broke the camel's back.

Just as I don't support them.
He can wear what he wants. Who cares.

We won't get the chance as he should soon be in the Stoke City shit bin! We should also not forget that a lot of Irish people, including some of the Irish Government, were pro Germany in WW2!

The sooner we get rid of this dick the better, complete fraud of a footballer and a full kit wanker The irony of your Avatar being a guy who a) proudly went against the grain and didn't give a *** what people thought and ; b) Wasn't shy about collecting Nazi/German militaria.

Being honest I thought I was at peace with the likelihood you'll now win the Euros but if one more commentator comes out and says it was Pickford who was slow off his line and falling on his arse the wrong way which made Muller miss a good chunk of open goal I'll be seriously tempted to buy an 'Hercules Adventures of Tintin' t-shirt and grow a Poirot tash for a week on Sunday.

He's had a go at Pete Smith too. So stirred the pot, got the reaction he wanted then cried. What's Smith done to upset him?

True, but in my opinion someone who wears the kit of the opposition just because it’s England is just petty and childish. Same goes for those idiots at the fail buying Man City keys and have Man City parties on cup final day. It just shows a lack of class

This is exactly what he wants and why attention seekers do what they do. It would bother him more if nobody reacted or mentioned it, but here we are pissing our knickers and getting wound up by a man in a football top.

He can wear whatever he wants, a German football kit, a balaclava, he can do what he wants in his own home. It's what he posts on social media to provoke a reaction that's the problem and there's been far too many. It's not just the British - Irish nonsense there's the posts about the manager, the pictures during lock down, it never ends.

I think the over-riding issue here, is that he's another player that the majority want to see the back of. He's shit.
If we're striving for a playing squad that fans can actually start to like again, this bloke's on the first bus out. He's the epitome of what we've grown to detest about some of our squad.
Putting balaclavas on, wearing fancy dress, whatever, he can do what he wants, but he's an attention-seeking cock, has questionable (putting it kindly) political views, and is an appallingly limited footballer.
And for that reason - I'm Out!!

Politics and religion, eh! McClean? He has the IQ of a wood pigeon. I have no problems with the Irish wanting a united Ireland but first they have to accept their own part in their downfall. Cromwell-the-Bastard was indeed a bastard and I understand why they hated him for the war crimes he committed at Drogheda, but it wasn't Cromwell who committed the massacre of Protestants at Portadown bridge previously. And McClean should also hate the French and the Swedes and the Norwegians who were the original Normans who conquered England and Ireland. I could go on. Most intelligent Irishmen know that the only way to a united Ireland is through dialogue. McClean thinks the best way is to hate the English, most of whom today have had no part to play in the many troubles of the past. But while he's hating the English, the two-faced idiot is quite prepared to fatten up his own proverbial pig mixing with us. Strong beliefs are fine but when those beliefs go to the extreme then he should have the balls to live by them.
The sooner he's gone from my club, the better as far as I'm concerned. Let him carry on with his English baiting elsewhere.
OS.

He does these things because he craves attention, good or Bad it just takes less effort to get a negative response, best action is for people to stop following him and stop acknowledging his posts.

It would bother him more if nobody reacted or mentioned it, but here we are pissing our knickers and getting wound up by a man in a football top. It’s as close as he’ll get to the Euros, that’s if he’s ever played in them at all. So dressing up like a child and posting pictures of yourself acting like a pouting 12 year old girl or some on line dating site is extremely pathetic, much like his football really. Before he posted the picture surely he would have thought “ hang on I play for Stoke and their fans will support England so I won’t do it for them”?? He gets everything he deserves apart from his wages ofc, which will affect his family no doubt in the future when they’re out and about. Massive pain in the arse for us.

Just looking at it from a different perspective ..... If you're Irish, it's possible that you consider England as invaders and oppressors of your homeland. As such, it could be a form of protest against centuries of English oppression. Not saying I agree with his form of "protest" and for non-woke causes (like protesting against the killing of unborn babies and unlike rioting for an end to police discrimination) one is always going to pick up a lot of flak. Don't we need to respect his viewpoint and acknowledge that there are wrongs that need to be addressed? Or is that the sole privilege of players taking the knee?
And before people go berserk, I'm simply stating a different perspective.

I wouldn't go there, it's too easy to jump to the conclusion "If you don't like it here, go back where your people came from", which as we all know is the most basic rallying cry of bigots everywhere.

And before people go berserk, I'm simply stating a different perspective. He's perfectly entitled to the viewpoint that he would like a United Ireland. Most of the wonderful people of Ireland think the same way but they don't get up to the same tricks he does. I hope one day it happens but the actions of stupid people like Mclean will delay the cause and not help it. Even the leaders of the IRA worked that one out. But, if they can put political history behind them, they then have to get over the massive hurdle of religious zealotry. That's the real obstacle; those who fanatically believe in a corrupt religion like Catholicism and those who follow a neo-Nationalist one like the Protestant Church. Whatever stupid stuff the idiot McClean gets up to, he's not doing it for a United Ireland. He's doing it because he's a nasty piece of work who hates the English. And that's why I want to see him out of my club. OS.
