Remember that time when Glenn Whelan, Joe Allen, Charlie Adam and the plethora of other British Isles internationals who've played for Stoke and who probably want England to lose whenever they play wore the top of a team England were playing against and posted it on social media? It's always McClean. Wasn't Joe Allen one of the celebrating welsh when england got knocked out of 2016 ? Lots of people dont like him whatever he does (and some of those may have good reason) but here hes just showing off on social media, closest he get to Kroos was probably to swap shirts. Was Joe Allen aware he was being recorded? I'm not aware of any non-English Stoke City player who has done what McClean has done today. I don't care what the man does in the privacy of his own home. He can light a bonfire and throw all his Stoke City shirts on it for all I care, just don't go publicising this kind of shit, showing disrespect to the club which pays him a handsome salary. It's unprofessional and lacking in class.

Yes and the Welsh players got a lot of stick for it. Remember when Allen and McClean cupped their hands to their ears after scoring? Allen got all the stick for that, McClean got away with it. He's got away with a lot during his time here, I think most supporters have had enough McClean score as if Stick is all part of the game as long as it's not over the top, people dont like McClean I understand that I just dont see any hidden message here its just the usual attention seeking on social media, post any old shit for people to gawp at todays was look at me I played against germany and got toni kroos's shirt rather than I hate all you english bastards.

Whether he wants England to win or lose I have no idea but he has absolutely no influence over that just like he does in far too many games he has played for us....

I'm amazed at all the hysteria just because someone seems to be supporting a different football team than themselves.
Like that is some kind of new concept in football!!!....Bizarre reaction.
There really is a million things on instagram and twitter to get one's knickers in a twist about if that's your bag!

Obviously not, it’s a completely different situation isn’t it! They wouldn’t be doing it too wind somebody up would they? Honestly if your brains were dynamite you wouldn’t have enough to blow your hat off!

Why? you are criticising a person for supporting Germany because they live and work in England and advertising it? what's the difference? I mean, the analogy you just made was so bad I’m not sure I can help, but I’ll try. Let’s go for, someone from Crimea who is from a Russian loyal family and plays for Russia internationally but plays club football in the Ukrainian league. Ukraine face their biggest international rival in a knockout game (not Russia obv) and the player goes onto social media before the game wearing the shirt of the team Ukraine are facing. How do you think that would go down with the supporters of the Ukrainian club that pays that player their wages? It’s far from a perfect analogy but it’s infinitely better than the tripe you came up with. Little wonder you can’t see what the fuss is about posting such silliness.

Embarrassed rather than wound up. Watching him play gets more Stokies wound up. Why would a Stoke player, one who was voted player of the season by the supporters want to wind the supporters up?

No that’s not the point…he plays for an English club, his livelihood is provided largely by the supporters of that club who are 99% English, so regardless of the realities of who he wanted to win, why would he actively go out of his way to potentially alienate those people who he professionally represents? As has been pointed out by davef, we’ve had many British isles players on our books but, as far as I’m aware, JM is the only one who has done something like this. I’m sure many of the Scottish lads we’ve had have enjoyed seeing England crash and burn but none of them have done something like this. It’s ALWAYS JM.

Are you feeling OK? The list is endless why fans from many clubs don't like him, and he does no favours, wasn't it only the other week when he removed stoke city off his social media( the club he plays for and the fans which stick up for him) He's in the papers always for the wrong reasons. Always on social media winding people up like you say, unfortunately also disrespecting the club that pays his wages. How many clubs want a player that's a bad egg, players like this lower their own value, at the owners cost(who pay theirs wages). They should able sue the little p....
