I think Southgates had a prolonged honeymoon period, semi finals of the World Cup was great albeit we didn’t beat anyone of note. Easy qualifying group but now the pressures on. Once again England expects and his easy ride is over For me I think it needs freshening up, I’d bring in Sancho, Bellingham, Grealish, Trippier, Chilwell and Maguire. Dropping Sterling, Rice, James, Shaw, Mount and Mings Colombia were of note. And he nearly blew it against them with a daft substitution that surrendered the initiative.

And he nearly blew it against them with a daft substitution that surrendered the initiative. We were lucky Colombia were so cynical. When they had to play in the last ten minutes they ripped us up. As ever, in the interest of balance, the fact we won the pennos is indicative of a different improved approach.

I worry a bit that we’re building Grealish up to be the second coming of Gazza and placing expectations on him that he can’t possibly live up to.
It’s another part of the problem with England that we always seem to buy into this media-driven myth of a talisman on whose shoulders the hopes of the nation rest. It was Lineker, then it was Gazza, then it was Beckham, then it was Rooney.

Grealish makes things happen mate, he runs at defenders making them back off or commit fouls and his first thought is forwards He was well down the list of finger pointing last night He came on and did nothing. A one dimensional player that a decent defender can easily take care of or a well set defence can cope with. I agree he wasn’t the worst last night, but he is not going to lead us to the promised land if he starts. Clearly there are no decent defenders in the Premier League then. Given a choice of watching Sterling waddle around like Happy Feet, failing to use anything but his right foot and a complete inability to pass to a player on his side, or take a chance on Grealish- Sterling could go and sit on the bench.

If Grealish is the answer, I’d love to know what the question is. Any half competent defence would have no problem coping with a player whose game, seemingly, is based on running head down into dead ends. Grealish makes things happen mate, he runs at defenders making them back off or commit fouls and his first thought is forwards He was well down the list of finger pointing last night I’m not sure what he was supposed to do. He came on, got surrounded by 3 or 4 Scots at a time and got constantly fouled. Every occasion he managed to wriggle free the lack of movement from our forwards was stark. Has to start the next game against a team unlikely to be quite so wary of what Grealish brings. Along with DCL providing the much needed movement and mobility.

It was the match of a generation and we had to beat them for the fans We're all disappointed with how we played. But what's done is done. Upward and onwards. Onwards definitely Upwards highly unlikely

I'd pick this team.. Pickford Trippier Stones Maguire Chilwell Rice Mount Bellingham Grealish Kane Sancho Grealish needs to play centrally instead of Mount who's not been great so far. It doesn't help when Kane drops so deep he's taking Mount's space. Play Bellingham instead of Rice or Philips. Sterling and Foden are fine. Kane is the biggest concern, if he's not at it he's a waste of space.

After the England vs Scotland game the tv host asked the journalist, the referee and the two ex-footballers about the players and they agreed on "Sterling being fenomenal, the work he does without the ball is absolutely fantastic", they said.
But you don't seem to even start him in the next game. I can get that.
Different opinions.

Think this game will suit us more than the Scotland game who at times, as good as they were, absolutely parked the bus in the second half which worked a treat. Hopefully the Czechs won't do that and we'll have more space in and around the box
But yeah, can definitely see a draw as others have said.

The Czechs have scored three goals now so you've got to respect that, stay organized and bring back the players with the experience to cope with the occasion.
The side will therefore be ............Pickford Trippier Stones Maguire Mings Walker ...Phillips Henderson Rice ..........Kane Sterling
Yours Gareth

Pickford
Trippier Stones Mings Chilwell
Rice Bellingham
Sancho Mount Foden
Kane
The calls for Kane to be dropped are beyond ridiculous. Way and above our best finisher and possibly best player. Yes he has been poor the 2 games but what fuckin service has he received the way Southgate has set up????? What would DCL (who I am a big fan of) have done last night with that service. Zero decent balls into the box apart from the early corner when Stones hit post.
If we fail Southgate has got to go. 2 years to prepare and still doesn't know his best team. Trying to keep happy and accommodate to many players. A lot of teams used the 2 friendlies with their main players to finely tune their set ups. We went through the motions playing a load of players that weren't even in the Euro squad or won't play a minute at the tournament. Shit himself with the inclusion of Ben White who wont play a minute when should of took Ward Prowse who can be a game changer.

One thing people haven't mentioned is that Scotland in Gillmore and McGinn had better centre midfield players than us. Rice and Philips are bang average.
I would go
Pickford
Trippier Maguire Stones Shaw
Bellingham Henderson
Sancho Grealish Rashford
DCL
Henderson and Maguire in on leadership qualities rather than ability I must add.
Foden as a false 9 instead of DCL maybe.

Moving forward , I think what Alan shearer has to say about harry Kane is spot on www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/football/57540281It is very easy to agree with Alan shearer , when he clearly knows what he is talking about , but I honestly feel he has got this right
