Scotland play Croatia before we play Czech. So, if the Scots or Croatia win their game by 2 or more goals, then England will be out if we lose to Czech. Which will make us even more defensive-minded than ever. I can see Czech beating us, in which case our fate will rest on the earlier game. Of course, if Czech beat us by more than one, that opens the door still further. So Southgate has got to hope that the Scotland-Croatia game ends in a tie. We are clearly not through yet.

All about levels I suppose. We are extremely disappointed with the result, and quite rightly as we were utter gash. Scotland are dancing around, wanking each other stupid because they got a 0-0 draw against us. And to all the Scotland fans who've been polluting our streets today.... Clean yourselves up and fuck off out of my country Yep, quite cringy really. Not surprised though, as this game has always been their WC final.

I can’t believe people still get duped into thinking we are anywhere near winning a tournament that actually means anything. We will scrape our way through the group stage as normal, then as soon as we play one of the big tournament nations, they will put us in our place. It’s the way it’s been in all of my forty odd years of watching England. Euro 96 was the only time we actually played like a force to be reckoned with. Every other tournament has been the usual mix of grinding out results, hard luck stories & not being good enough when it comes to the crunch matches. I realised we will win nowt in my lifetime some years back. Sorry boys & gals, wake up & smell the coffee. Even Euro 96 we only really played well in two and half games. True mate. We were very fortunate against Spain. We at least looked like a team with a plan though, and we were genuinely unlucky against the Germans.

The time for the dream I’ve been having of a Harry Kaneless England for the last year has to come. Sancho and Bellingham need to come in. I'm not so sure it's a Kane problem (although he looks very unfit), we have nobody from midfield in between the lines driving the ball forward. Which is mad, as we're blessed with some really good number 10s. We need Foden in the middle and Sancho to come in. Isn’t the issue he comes deeps and gets in every fuckers way? I think it is anyway. And then he’s just added immobility and bone idleness to that.

It doesn't let England off the hook for just not fancying a tough game in proper weather, but this was Scotland's biggest game for a couple of decades.

In fact, not knowing makes Southgate’s decision-making even harder.

Like us the DMs don’t give us enough going forwards and technically aren’t that great in comparison to some of the top players they look cumbersome. I’m not sure if the formations even right now. Next game if I was Southgate I’d make changes
Pickford
Shaw Stones Maguire James
Bellingham Phillips
Foden Grealish Sancho
Calvert Lewin

To understand the gulf between England and the world quality teams - we'd look wank compared to the relatively shit side Germany have put out for this tournament.
Over the years I've been attending and watching England games, can never understand what the gap is - expectation/pressure/tactics? Who knows?

The amount of attacking talent we have on the pitch and they spent most of the match just passing back to defence for a kickabout. You had players making runs and shouting for the ball and still the ball was played back rather than forwards.

We are what we are. It’s all about fine margins. We could have easily got to the Euro final in 96. And could have got to the last World Cup Final. Either support your country or fuck off up to Jock land 👍

Just what was that absolute shite? I don’t expect us to batter teams, but that was just nonsense. Appalling, ponderous football in which Scotland looked by far the more threatening side. We’d already got 3 points against Croatia so why is he shitting himself against Scotland? That shape, that speed of play, was just as grim as it gets. Can you imagine France or Portugal against them? They’d absolutely bury them.

The only two options are and in order, Eddie Howe and Brendon Rodgers
