I'm English, an England fan, Jack Grealish won us a penalty which won us the game. Good on the lad. Because I'll tell you something every other player in the Euros will be trying to do the same. If you can't beat em... Drawing fouls is a big part of the game now, for better or worse. Absolutely. Its no different to when Powell gets kicked all over the the place and goes down so many times because of it all.

If you can't beat them join them. The attitude to diving on here is very honourable but in the real world it's just cutting your nose off to spite your face. Every bugger else does, so should we (Stoke and England). Early in Jermaine Pennant's time with us he went down just outside the box to win a free kick from which (l think) we scored. Possibly against Birmingham? But nobody had touched him. TP wasn't impressed and didn't select him for the next three matches. I wonder if any of those on here rightly scathing players' diving would give TP any credit for his stand? It was Villa on the night he turned up at half time after the death of his mother. And he didn't drop Pennant after that game.

It’s just a pity the supposed honourable mr Pulis wasn’t as critical of his West Brom players when we had 3 players sent off v West Brom when they clearly play acted It’s amazing how parts of Pulis history just get wiped away and cherry picked Anyway back on track eh

Yep the pulis who played Walters every game. who every game backed into defenders then fell over to win a free kick whenever he could...I remember a set piece huth literally pulled a defender out of the wall and we scored, that had to have been practiced. I think you are getting pulis wrong he'd take any advantage going fair or not. If he benched pennant for trying some flair that failed id be agreeing.

Every bugger else does, so should we (Stoke and England). Should that logic extend to everything, for example drug taking for sprinters & cyclists? I actually think allowing cyclists and 100 metres runners to do that would be awesome. But in both sports it is seen as a bad thing generally. In football, diving isn’t seen as that bad of a thing bar on these shores. People are pissing in the world being outraged by it.

Kicking lumps out of the opposition is cheating/gamesmanship just the same as the trailing leg. I don't mind a physically robust approach the game myself, but to say the bygone era was 'better' is no more than rose tinted nostalgia. Bojan wouldn't have lasted half a game in the English First Division in the 1970s or 80s. How is that a good thing? Stanley Matthews was 5 ft 9 and weighed 71 kg. He was a lightning fast tricky winger who was hardly known for getting involved in the more robust side of the game. He had no problem playing into his 50s with hatchet men left, right and centre. Of course, his own personal hatchet man was one of the best. When did 'protecting players' become the referee's job instead of the team's job?
