They're an odd one. A few years of getting in the Champions League and all of a sudden they think they're some big I am. In my lifetime they've never won the league and I can only remember them being in the race for one once, when Leicester won it. And tbh until like 2011/2012 I'd have happily banded them with Everton and Villa. A club on the cusp of being able to do some big things but never actually doing it. Think the infamous Barry Siddall air kick in the 80's they were in contention for the League, possibly runners up to Everton. But you are right in general they have done very little. If that was pre 1987 then it's not in my lifetime, I'm younger than I act

You're the odd one - some big you are not. In your lifetime they have never won the league so they are a bunch of no good nothings. How old are you? Apparently you're not old enough to know that you can check their history, before making a fool of yourself. They won the league twice, which is two times more than your club ever did. They also won the FA Cup 8 times which again is 8 times more than Stoke did. Granted they only won the Leaqgue Cup 3 timers more than we did. They also won the Euro Cup Winners Cup and Euro Cups 3 times. How many times Stoke? They were invited to the European Super League - not one that I am in favour of - because they are considered on the continent to be one of the big six English clubs - and because of the money in their tank. Some of that money is there because they have a very shrewd managing director, who has a habit of selling players well above their value. We're probably a valued customer of theirs, but we're not the only fools in Levy's net. No they're just an average club.

It feels a bit odd to be supporting bayern on this but Everton have won the league title 4 times since Spurs last won the title (and 9 times in total), so I would suggest history shows Everton to be a far bigger club than Spurs. And why "your club", shouldn't it be "our club".

I don't know where Everton comes into it, I don't mention, and the high powers of Euopean football did not list them among the big brass where Spurs are.

I don’t think we can claim to be a big club and I would be horrified if we ever thought of joining the despised 6. On a big club footing, I would put the likes of Everton, Newcastle, WHam, Villa, Leeds on a par with Spurs.

stoke WBA Coventry Soton Sheff U Leicester Boro Nothing much between them. Leicester currently top of the pile but one bad season puts them back on par. At the end of the day doesn't really matter.

And laughably they tried to claim they are part of the Big 6. Spurs never 'claimed' anything. Here are Spurs finishing positions over the last 12 seasons in the Premier League: 7th, 6, 4, 3, 2, 3, 5, 6, 5, 4, 5. 4.

Bloody hell yeah, Barry Siddall's air kick was spectacularly inept. Wasn't it Crooksy who rolled in the gift ? Around 1986 ? Yes had to Google. Crookes 1985 .

West Ham can punch above their weight for players based on location but they've won far less than those other three clubs and have spent more time out of the top flight too.

my first Stoke home defeat was v Spurs. I think Gerry Armstrong scored twice, Crooks for us. I was about 6. 29-Oct-77. Division 2. Stoke 1 Spurs 3 (Pratt, Armstrong 2). The week before you beat the Gas 9-0. I was at both games. I don’t like Spurs! Nothing against you though fella, good to have a Spurs fan on here. BM

Everton, Villa and Spurs are much bigger than West Ham. I thought that until I visited Essex a few years ago. And now they have the stadium to go with their status. They'd like to be in the same class. But they're far too inconsistent. This season's been good. Last season they hovered just above relegation. It's been like that through the ages.

Not really worthy of an ESL invite. There'd be no point - and there isn't - of an ESL if they just followed positions, current or otherwise. It's about whether they have the clout, i.e. the finances, to be on par, or just below, Real Madrid, whose president initiated the pipedream.

However way we cook it, Man Utd and Liverpool are incontravertably the country's two biggest clubs. But beyond that it rather depends on whether we're talking money, trophy winning, history or level of support.
Were it not for the Russian and Arab investment Chelsea and Man City would not be seen as big a clubs in my mind as Arsenal, Spurs and Everton, with Villa and 'Castle a little further below.
Spurs are a real anomoly with a status well beyond their ability to win trophies. That 1960-63 golden era really has formed real traction in the public consciousness.

The quality of the football they played at various times also endeared them to the non-committed fan of the football. The Glory Game in the 60s, the Hoddle years with Ardiles and Villa also on and off, the Bale explosion, and Kane's quality at goalscoring; there's probably more.
