I never believed that Keepers should be allowed to enter the opposition half. If an outfield player tried to wear a different coloured shirt than his teammates, he would be ordered to change it. In Allison’s case, he wore a very dark top and it’s easy for defenders to mistake his shirt with the refs. Great header but shouldn’t be allowed.

Alex Stepney for Manchester United in the 60's. I can't remember the fixture but for anyone who had a black and white telly, Man U were in red.

Peter Keen for Carlisle v Blackpool in 2001.
Jimmy Glass was on loan from Swindon when he scored for Carlisle against Plymouth in 1999 to keep Carlisle in the League.

The goalkeeper wears different colour shirt than his teammates to distinguish himself from his teammates and the other outfield players, according to FIFA rules, as he is also the only player allowed to use his hands.

A couple of ex Stoke keepers:
Andy Lonergan scored for Preston (2004/05) Gavin Ward scored for Tranmere (2006/07) Bruce Grobbelaar for Crewe (1979/80) Peter Shilton for Leicester City (1967/68) Kevin Pressman scored three penalties for Sheffield Wednesday, although they all came in shootouts.

Maybe not but it is a good point, why do goalies have different coloured shirts? Surely it’s for the officials to distinguish them from outfielders? Agreed but when he goes up front like today he becomes an out field player.

In this year's Scottish Cup quarter final St Johnstone 'keeper Zander Clark scored the equalizer against Rangers that took the game to extra time and then saved two penalties in the penalty shoot out (which St Johnstone won).

Surely it’s for the officials to distinguish them from outfielders? Agreed but when he goes up front like today he becomes an out field player. He doesn’t. He becomes a desperate goalkeeper. By that logic a goalkeeper should never leave his area as he then becomes an outfield player.

Agreed but when he goes up front like today he becomes an out field player. He doesn’t. He becomes a desperate goalkeeper. By that logic a goalkeeper should never leave his area as he then becomes an outfield player. Maybe that should be the case, a small outfield player can't go in goal and cover for the big goalie who's gone up front.

Yep watched that couple of weeks back. I know Ceni as manager of fFamego, watch a bit of Brazilian league but no idea he was a keeper never mind scored so many

One for us ‘oldies“, George Farm Blackpool’s goalkeeper scored with a header against Preston in the mid 1950s, this was after he had injured his arm and was forced to play up outfield ( before subs were introduced)

Tom King scored in January of this year for Newport County. Last I heard it was being debated as to whether or not he replaced Bego for world record in terms of length of goal. I should really google it but cba.
