Really terrible stuff. Must be terrifying if you're witnessing it as an innocent bystander.
Fair to say any hope Israel had of getting tourists in has been to shot to bits.

Israeli forces continue to evict Palestinians from their rightful homes, forcing people to exist in the worlds biggest open air prison called Gaza. Some Palestinians respond by shooting crude missiles into Israeli “territory” (unacceptable). Israel responds with completely disproportionate tactics resulting in multiple deaths and large swathes of buildings being bombed to the ground.
Yet the media narrative continues with the second point whilst barely acknowledging the first and last.
Backed by one of the worlds biggest armies and $4 billion a year US funding, Israel as the aggressors and occupying power have it within their gift to try and de-escalate tensions between both sides, but under Netanyahu it chooses to push on with a policy of ethnic cleansing instead.
Just very sad all around....

Israel holds all the cards. Yes Hamas call for the destruction of Israel, but what progress are they making toward this end? And viewed through the lens if settler colonialism, there is a debate to be acknowledged there. Israel, however, maintains plausible desirability in its actions to maintain support particularly US support. But while doing so builds new settlements, with new settlers (who are the most nationalistic/ jingoistoc/ racist members of the society) who act with impunity, more evictions, more demolitions, greater normalisation of occupation and the Judasation of Jerusalem. All of these things get worse every day. By design. That's not to mention the siege of Gaza, the imposition on all aspects of life, ID cards, military law etc etc. Which stay the same. Because it's my view it's the disingenuous nature of every increasing land theft/ property theft that shows an increase in injustuce and undermines the whole situation. Israeli politicians openly talk of a Jewush only Jresusalen, of annexation and that there will never be a Palestinian state. And it is the poor reporting on this in the West that gives it cover to continue.

Canada, the European Union, Israel, Japan and the United States classify Hamas as a terrorist organization. Australia, New Zealand, Paraguay and the United Kingdom classify only its military wing as a terrorist organization.

Well as hamas are deliberately targetting areas such as Lod where the population is mixed and was co existing relatively peacefully, I'd say no they arent, I'd say firing rockets from buildings where you people live is not really looking after their own either.

You can't ignore the actions of an aggressive superpower whilst concentrating on the retaliation in good faith........

Look at you downplaying rocket attacks whereas the truth is somewhat different, mortars launched at ambulance crews responding to missile attacks 1000+ rockets fired at it and israel is being aggressive and you want to talk about bad faith.

Good example of that was when Hamas captured an Israel soldier a few years back who was on a raid on Palestinian land - remember thinking when seeing the news media were far more concerned with the terrorists holding him rather than what he was doing there in the first place. Remember reading an interesting passage in an Iain Banks book (Dead Air?). Can't remember if they were Jewish, Israeli or both but that character basically said it was now part of their psychology as they never want to be in the same position they were in from the Nazi's ever again and just don't take any shit of anyone as first line of defence. I'd never really thought of it that way before but still leaves an uncomfortable juxtaposition between their fairly recent past and the present.

I'm not downplaying anything, I'm saying your are concentrating on one side without mentioning the atrocities of the other. You still haven't commented on the forced evictions of Palestinians from their homes often into occupied territories which in itself is the definition of a ware crime according to the UN......

One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter. The only good terrorist is a dead terrorist. Go on then since you’ve now unblocked me and decided to follow me instead to save face .... Before Israel was officially a state, various terrorist attacks were carried out by people who would go on to occupy prominent positions in Israeli politics/military. Should those terrorist commanders/soldiers have been killed before moving into politics? And if not, at what point did they stop being classified as terrorists for you?
