I just saw a thread for "Hartlepools By Election" which momentarily I read as if it was the name of a football club!
I can certainly remember clubs with odder names, though mainly in the past.
There was one place that always stuck in my mind as I used to pass it quite often going to Peterborough, and that was Irthlingborough in Northamptonshire and their club Irthlingborough Diamonds. In 1992 the club merged with Rushden Town to form Rushden & Diamonds, which played at Irthlingborough's Nene Park until financial troubles caused it to enter administration in July 2011. I lost track of what happened to them after that.
Another one in the same area was Banbury Spencer. The club was established in 1931 as Spencer Sports Club, a works team of the Spencer Corsets factory! In 1965 the club was renamed Banbury United after a change in ownership, and at the end of the 1965–66 season they transferred to Division One of the Southern League.
My Grandfather used to tell me heroic tales about a club named and Founded as Stoke Ramblers in 1863. The club changed its name to Stoke Football Club in 1878 and then to Stoke City in 1925 after Stoke-on-Trent was granted city status. Stoke were one of the twelve founding members of the Football League in 1888. Whatever happened to them?
Edit: According to Wiki The team now "competes" (?) in the Championship, the second tier of English football.

Not an unusual club name, but a curiosity, that during the first decade of this Century there was a football coach in the German Bundesliga named Wolfgang Wolf, and he was of course the Manager of Wolfsburg!

A good "old favourite" is Scottish Premier League side Hamilton Academical. They were established in 1874 from the school football team at Hamilton Academy and remain the only professional club in British football to have originated from a school team!

Wormatia Worms - Germany Tom Tomsk - Russia FC Santa Claus - Finland Wouldn’t it be great if their bar was called The Tom Tomsk Club and they got The Tom Tom club to play there.

Our own history originates in the Charterhouse school doesn’t it. Not a “school team” as such obviously

Newell's Old Boys in Argentina. The club was founded on 3 November 1903, and is named after Isaac Newell of Kent, one of the pioneers of Argentine football.

They folded and a phoenix club was formed - initially playing at Wellingborough FC's Dog & Duck Ground, named after the Beefeater pub next door! They now play in Rushden

Deportivo Wanka- Peru The Strongest - Bolivia One thing I love about The Strongest is that they were originally called 'The Strong Football Club' - evidently they felt like they needed to make it clear that they weren't just strong, there was in fact no club stronger.

Quids in if we get Marillion to sit in front.

An Intercontinental Cup final of Newell's Old Boys v BSC Young Boys (Switzerland) has a nice ring (pun not intended) to it.

Lots of ersatz clubs named after European teams across South America. Liverpool (Uruguay), Barcelona (Ecuador), Everton and Rangers (Chile)... also Juventud in Uruguay and Arsenal in Argentina, although they're unrelated to the Italian and English teams. And then there's various Wanderers, Albions, Boys etc

I do miss the days when Russian and Ukrainian teams were much bigger and important than they are now. Many were either Army teams or else named after the factory or industry that sponsored them, such as Dynamo Kiev, Torpedo Moscow and Lokomotiv Leipzig (Germany).
