You sir are a miserable, odious, foul mouthed, ignorant, oxygen thief. So 7 points from 1 home game, two away and we are deluded, and all the teams were poor? When is the right time to be happy about supporting your football team? Seems like your just sour because your prophecies of doom have been proved wrong. I'd prefer it if you either enjoyed the football or fooked off and shut up. Been hiding no where you prick , unlike dumb fuckers like you I won’t get carried away after 1 excellent performance , Reading was only good first half and Birmingham was just shite , we’ve played 3 poor team but the thick cunts are all happy 😉👍😁😂 Imagine getting as wound up as he is by your team playing well

I think you’ve shown your ignorance to what goes on behind the scenes, especially the importance of the team and the effect of bad apples. I’d say I’m surprised but that would be a lie. The team spirit was fine though. And as I’ve said even the ones we don’t like seem well liked by the other players. I think it’s overplayed massively. Bauer and Wimmer seem well liked. McClean definitely was. As I said the only two would be Badou and Etebo but neither have been at the club for 18 months have they? So who exactly are the bad apples? Well liked by whom? You don’t know what goes on behind closed doors only what the club allow to be said. If you believe everything the club feed you then you aren’t very switched on. I’m in no doubt that the improvement is down in a big part to shifting out those that didn’t want to be here, and even those that were on loan being gone has cleared out some of the putrid stink them being on the books has had. It’s improved in a bit way in my opinion because of that, maybe I’m wrong but it’s great to see them playing better. I just hope O’Neill continues to make you look daft 😂

The only two seem to be Etebo and Badou but they haven’t been in SOT for ages. It’s just not an issue for team spirit. How has MON playing positive football with the majority of the squad the same from last season made me look daft? It just shows it could and should have been done last season.

I already feel like Forest is a big game to show last nights performance isn’t just a flash in the pan. I don’t mind losing if the philosophy is to play attacking football but there is certainly no need to treat any team in this division as anything other than a championship team. Hope MON sticks to his guns and doesn’t set up defensively against the so called better teams in this division.

Not convinced there are that many genuinely good sides in this league Fulham deffo Albion? Bournemouth? Cardiff? Boro? Blades? QPR? maybe all those sides will be good maybe they won't , someone else may surprise at most maybe 8 fixtures where you might perceive the opposition as being clearly better before you play otherwise most Champ games are two sides more or less at the same level & anyway playing defensively against the better sides can work a treat if you do it right, i.e. play on the break really not keen on only having one approach, you need different strategies over a season

You can set your team up to play on the break which done right can be construed as an attacking philosophy. I talking more about setting up not to lose which can often lead to such negativity that it’s inevitable you will lose. Not sure if that makes sense but I know what I mean🤣

Are people moaning after this start of the season!!?? 7 points from 3 games must be a decent return no matter who you have met in this division! Try to be happy while you can as there will be set backs during a long season! I'm thrilled so far! Even players like Tymon and Brown have been much better than my expectations! We have also had a very good window so far! What's not to like right now!?

Great start to the season but let's keep our powder dry for now. It's not time for the 'told you so' conversation just yet, if at all. I must admit I was having major reservations about MoN after Christmas but if he can take the team into a sustained period of positive winning football then surely every Stoke supporter will be happy?! ..and if they're not they bloody well should be!

I think it's become pretty apparent that the back 3 is the foundation on which MON's system is based.
Big credit to the coaching and recruitment staff for getting this sorted. It's a small sample size, but we look a completely different team that can build out from the back quickly and decisively.
Can't wait to see us with Campbell back.

Yes - last season wasn’t great but we survived At least let’s give him until Christmas before we call for the axe - Literally can’t believe it I think what he's saying is the thread is from last season. And it hasn't been bumped due to members still calling for his sacking. It was me a petty member, aka myself, who bumped it to call out some of the members from this thread who have went into hiding since our strong start to the season. At present as of right now I don't thi k anyone wants MON sacked

But how does this tally with MON's stated aim of moving to a 433 when he has the right personal? This would employ only two CBs. (I'm an unreconstructed 4231 man myself but happy with the kind of 352 we saw at Swansea)

Having 3 defenders who can bring the ball out adds so much to our game, I think it'd be a pretty big mistake to move away from that.

Absolutely this, having a back 3 of Souttar, Wilmott and Ostigard is a totally different kettle of fish to Souttar, Chester and Baath.

Another 4231 here, though if we’re honest it can be called 451 and 433 at any point too. I’ve never been a fan of wing backs. It seems to work ok going forward but not so much when not in possession. Reading seemed to take advantage especially down our left side but having heard good things about the different back three in the last two games I’m a bit more positive now.

How has MON playing positive football with the majority of the squad the same from last season made me look daft? It just shows it could and should have been done last season. It's not the same squad though is it? The key is now he has three centre halves he trusts to a) bring the ball out of defence b) play a forward ball to a team mate not just lump it up for it to come straight back and c) to have the strength, speed and positional sense to be able to defend against quick opposition breaks so doesn't need to make sure there are fullbacks and midfield players helping to close the space.

Steady on, Waddington took a struggling second tier side to promotion in 3 seasons, with the promotion season as Champions playing exciting football. It took him 7 seasons to achieve success in the top tier with an FA Cup semifinal, but that was on low income from gates, no TV money, selling Ritchie for revenue, and having to develop young players to replace an aging team and making do with getting a year or two out of old players he signed. Unlike Rowett and Jones, Waddington could spot real talent. I agree with your opening comment. I think ManU should have had the guts to stick with Moyes but sold out to impatient ManU fans, who expected the Ferguson years to simply continue. There are many other examples. Burnley have stuck with their manager to their credit, even during relegation. Success depends on appointing the right manager in the first place, then to spot when a manager has "lost the plot" or simply not good enough, and remove. The Stoke owners have failed repeatedly on those counts, hopefully they have finally got it right.

A decline was expected, taking them to 7th in the league wasn't, nor was losing the first leg of a Champions League tie with the mighty Olympiakos 2-0. Nor was making Rio Ferdinand watch videos of Phil Jagielka to try and get him to learn how to defend. Good manager but has a ceiling. Where Stoke are concerned, every single one we've sacked since 2013 deserved to be.

Where Stoke are concerned, every single one we've sacked since 2013 deserved to be. We'll never know about Moyes at ManU, he was sacked in short time. He inherited a lot of issues at ManU, one of which was an aging Ferdinand. Ferguson wrote in his second autobiography* that he signed Smalling in 2010 because Ferdinand was having " problems with his back and other parts". Moyes inherited him years later. * page 241. Ferdinand denies he was made to watch videos which was reported in many parts of the media. www.football365.com/news/man-utd-rio-ferdinand-busts-myth-phil-jagielka-david-moyes-videosIs 7th bad? There are 6 major clubs with all the money, Everton are invariably in the mix (but not always), there is always a team that performs above expectation each season like Leicester and challenges for Europe, so 7th might be a huge disappointment for one of the big clubs but not a disaster IMO. I agree on ceiling; there is a saying in business that managers are promoted to their level of incompetence. I agree with your last statement and add "too late". Lambert failed to save us from relegation and lost his job, which on reflection was probably correct, but I always wonder whether he was sacked because he told the owners there needed to be a major clear out, which would cost a fortune, and a long term rebuilding programme. The owners didn't like the sound of that and decided to remove him; just speculation on my part.
