Sad sad news, this has been an awful year for Leeds legends, top player was Lorimer, had the pleasure of seeing him playing for York later in his career before heading back to Elland Road, another bit of our youth disappears.

Very sad. RIP
Used to dislike Leeds with a vengeance, of course, but he was part of unique 70's footballing culture that was extremely rich with talent and character.
He was a very good player, 238 goals from his position is an amazing record

Used to love watching that Leeds side and hating them at the same time Hardest shot in football at the time and I think our Harry was 2nd in some sort of mph measurement done around then. RIP

Very sad news. I remember him playing down Stoke when he was about 38. His record and longevity as a player say it all. RIP

The team we all loved to hate, but secretly admired their football and attitude (well I did anyway) so sad to loose my favorite Leeds player, RIP Peter Lorimer...

Lorimer was a signed-up member of Revie's 70's team whose cynical football philosophy entailed using dirty tricks and the the sly foul to achieve much acclaimed success. Revie's scumbags effectively put an end to the career of Kevin "bomber" Sheldon our exciting young winger whose leg was broken at Elland Road. Forgive me if I don't shed too many tears.

Wow, that's a real strange long held grudge over a game of football. A man has died

Peter Lorimer (and Eddie Gray) were Leeds players of that era who always came across as decent blokes as well as being very good footballers.
Was always impressed that he went back to the club in the mid 80s when they were down in Division 2 and he was pushing 40 to help mentor the young players and turn the club around.
RIP

Wasn't Lorimer the only player who had a harder shot than our own Harry Burrows?

RIP A great player of that era when there seemed to be a lot of good Scottish players Bill Shankly said to be successful you needed three Scots in the team. Any more than three though and you'd have problems.

Saw him play against us in 75 when we won 3-2 and he scored both their goals if I'm not mistaken. As others have said a proper football legend who I would have loved to have at our place (not that we were struggling for talent at that time.)

I seem to recal it was 40+ years ago when Lorimer won a competition run by a daily paper (the Mirror I think)to find the Hot-shot of a striker at the time. Second in that comp was our own Harry Burrows!!! d.

Another one gone from my childhood era. The Seventies players seemed a totally different breed to todays, hard but fair mainly, there was a distance between fans and players that made them heroes and icons, yet there was a closeness seeing them around town etc. You could often be in Meir Club with the parents and Freddie Steele Denis Smith Bluto would be in. It was a great time to grow up. That Leeds team were awesome yet outside of Leeds hated, jealousy and admiration stood side by side. Those tags with their numbers on attached to their socks, so cringy yet popular amongst the kids in a time where replica kits were rare. Lost alot of players of late Leeds at a time where they are bouncing back. Good luck to 'em, a bigger force next season when crowds start to return. RIP Peter Lorimer, what a bullet of a shot.

WTH - this dude hit the ball so hard it would come in "hopping" as it approached the keeper! Damn that thing could take a hand off. Talk about a concussion if it hit your head! Howitzer Leg. Much respect - RIP sir.
