Nice comfy win today, some great build up play against a pretty poor team.
However, our final ball, crosses and our finishing is beyond awful. The crossing especially is 95% garbage.
Having said that, it is a bigger concern when we aren't creating anything at all, than when we aren't finishing a lot of what we are creating.

We just do not have a striker worth a place in the team...awful again today! Fletcher played well again, as he often does, he's clearly a good player. He's one I really wish we'd got hold of 5 years ago, I had no idea he was as good as he is. But, he just doesn't finish half as well as is needed and we are really poor at picking him out when he finds space. A couple of times today he pulled off to the penalty spot for a cut back and the crosser didn't look up. He goes mad each time, so maybe it'll get better when Clarke gets a regular run and when Brown (fingers crossed) is replaced by absolutely anyone in the world...

Agreed. Our crossing especially from the right is woeful. Our top assist player with 5 is Tyrese Campbell who got injured in early December, 3 months ago. This in itself tells you everything about the service the forwards get. It’s no wonder we don’t score as many goals as we could, even Vokes.

Having said that, it is a bigger concern when we aren't creating anything at all, than when we aren't finishing a lot of what we are creating. We played well today and created some great chances. The lack of quality when we have the ball in wide areas is frustrating, especially when you consider Fletcher and Powell are decent in the air. Brown was the main culprit today - I don't think that I've ever seen a wide player have so much of the ball and yet completely fail to do anything with it.

Clarke did ok today and will benefit from a good run in the team but Brown really is woeful and TOB didn't make a strong case when he came on.

I think that Fletcher is excellent in terms of his hold up play and build up. I'm the same as you, I'd never really realised how effective he could be. It's just a shame that he's in te twilight of his career and is (seemingly) quite injury prone.

Brown offered exactly what you expect really, he doesn't have a good final ball, not many of them do. Someone creative in the middle to play off Powell would help but aside from Powell the only other player I can think of is injured.

If moving forward we play with that intent and pace I will be happy. It was a much better tempo and some good incisive play, bar the finishing. It was an enjoyable watch..

In case the game was in the balance and we needed a bit of pace for 15 minutes maybe? As it happens we were cruising so no need to risk if that was the case.....

About 2 seasons before relegation from the prem we we’re putting lots of crosses into the box with no end result,it’s been a long standing thing.

I like Fletcher and thought he did well today. Technically he’s very good but he’s not a natural finisher I do like the 4231 though and with 2-3 good players in for next season we could be cooking. Hopefully Dougherty could be a big answer to our problem on the right. If we can get RND and Clarke for another season that would be really useful. A team like this season could see us up there. Getting a ball playing CM like Bannon would make a huge difference
.......................Bursic...................... Smith......Soutter....Collins......RND .............Cousins......new................. Dougherty.......Powell...........Clarke ......................Campbell..................
That team for me would get us right up there. Problem may be that we’re lumbered with a lot of expensive misfits so we may not be able to keep Clarke and RND but it doesn’t need huge change just a bit of luck with injuries. Something we haven’t had this season.

Fletcher early season goals seemed to involve Campbell putting a ball into him on the back post, I think Campbell had 6 or 7 assists as well as his goals, a really big miss
