Clarke did ok today and will benefit from a good run in the team but Brown really is woeful and TOB didn't make a strong case when he came on. Tbf to TOB he isn't a wide man and its stupidity that he got played there. TOB has done absolutely nothing when played centrally, but did OK yesterday- he found teammates with passes and kept it simple. That was a marked improvement from what Brown was doing. We were 0-0 before that sub and ended up winning 2-0. I can't for the life of me work out what was 'stupid' about it.

Being able to control a ball probably helped him with that but he still isn't wide mind and god knows what Brown is

Nice comfy win today, some great build up play against a pretty poor team. However, our final ball, crosses and our finishing is beyond awful. The crossing especially is 95% garbage. Having said that, it is a bigger concern when we aren't creating anything at all, than when we aren't finishing a lot of what we are creating. About 2 seasons before relegation from the prem we we’re putting lots of crosses into the box with no end result,it’s been a long standing thing. Putting crosses in is a hit and miss affair. The odds are heavily weighted in favour of the defenders and goalkeeper. Which is why none of the top sides bother with crossing.

Well, Smith's pin point cross from the right for Powell's header against the bar was, perhaps, the cross of the season and the low cross from the left (from Clarke?) for Joe Allen's simple tap-in makes a nonsense of your criticism that our crossing yesterday was 'beyond awful'. Unless you're commenting on previous matches this season?

Yes, was watching Manure and Citeh today (Sorry, I have to watch what is available over here) Both teams did work the ball in without these long "Kick and duck crosses." And there was absolutely no "long-hoofing." When they did cross, it was a pinpoint laser affair perfectly on target. You're right Rev, the scoring came from quick build-ups, multiple short passes and rapid creativity. Guys who will take on a defender AND get around him - amazing. That Foden guy... man I like him, he just...pesters enemy GK's. Biggest difference? Seeing 2 teams doing the fundamentals well - (They acted like....professionals or something!) I saw nothing, other than sheer foot-speed that our guys couldn't emulate if they'd practice right. Either we aren't showing our guys films of "how to play football like..." & practicing fundamentals, or we're letting them fall asleep during film reviews. We need several weeks of nothing but what I call "half-court offense" drills. Practice that final third of the pitch constantly and mercilessly. Spray water-hoses on them and throw refuse at them while they do it, literally push and scream at them. Do anything we have to - pound our final attack so far into their heads that regardless of circumstances, they don't even have to THINK about how to get a ball in the goal. Seems like when our guys get time to think - it's "deer in the headlights" too often. We've got players who could, with practice, show more "talent" than they currently are. This...multiple years of breaking down in the final third is getting old. Am I off-base here?
