I would be very surprised if his staff or others at the club don't deal with the "shit" maybe he should delegate if he's busy. True, but as the manager of the first team, he has to make the call on who to persist with and who to chuck out on loan and his reputation is on the line, with everyone and their aunt questioning his decision making. Just saying it takes a certain personality to deal with this and I think he's the best we can get from what we've seen so far. Can't say I've enjoyed watching a game for a good while though. He did that months ago he chose his squad and that should be his focus. We have accountants, coaches all kinds of people to deal with "outcasts" and money its not his job his is to win. If he is taking too much on somebody should point it out because he's struggling in his day job.

Not disputing that, as it's his primary aim of course.

Anyone else feel like the seasons already ended?I don't even feel like it has started Not being able to watch in person has taken all the emotion out of the game for me. I don't even bother with the streams, it's just not the same I would willingly write off this season...and am sure it will be very forgettable in the not too distant future (as a football season, not for other obvious reasons) It's a spectator sport...with no spectators! If we were in a situation where fan attendance was allowed, I'm sure that after our strange dealings in the transfer window, the gate at the next home game would now be down a good 5 or 6 thousand on the average.

I'm sure the club would have reacted differently if there were fans in they have no pressure to do anything no dissenting crowds so they have free reign this season. Anyone who thinks the bet365 would not have rung out to loud booooos is im afraid wrong.

Just heard MON on the radio putting his faith in Vokes.
And the radio were clear that we have only two strikers; Fletcher and Vokes. I don’t know how that categorises Brown.

Has it dawned on everyone that we'll probably be watching another dour display using a back 5 with McClean and Brown as wingbacks. I might paint the spare room on Friday night then I can watch the paint dry on Saturday it will probably be just as exciting as the match. Gouranga.

Just can't muster up any excitement, We know it'll be a back 5 with just one goal if we're lucky, little or no intention of making a push for a play off place just relax and hope there's enough (which there obviously is) for us to avoid a relegation battle. Gouranga. Being in with a chance of making the play offs would give the fans some interest at this point, but can't see it myself. Maybe beating Reading and Norwich might restore some faith in this team.

The speed with which a lot of Stoke fans adapt to and accept under performance and mediocrity never ceases to amaze. It’s not even mediocrity. It’s the dullest, flattest least ambitious football I’ve ever seen. We don’t have a plan A never mind a plan B. We start games like we’ve all been smoking bongs in the changing rooms. Calling it one dimensional is one dimension too many. He’s lucky there are no fans in the stadium because the groaning would be deafening.

We’re not going up, we’re not going down. I just want to see some better performances, to give me hope for next season. Sadly, we seem to be getting worse after a promising start.

I thought we were miles behind with more games played. Checked the table earlier on and everyone has played 27 games, and we're 'only' four points away from the playoffs. Form suggests we haven't got a chance and MON's decisions of late have been questionable at best, but we aren't out of it yet... It's true that mathematically we are just about in touch with the final play-off position but the trouble is our trajectory is all wrong. Zero wins in the last 7 matches, zero in the last 9 matches if you count the cups. Our metaphorical roof is shedding a few tiles and looks like it may be about to cave in. I'm genuinely surprised there has not been a single peep from the Board, were there a crowd the mood would be as dark as the slate grey February skies. Are you an English teacher Gods? Your posts at times are poetic.

It’s quite plain that with the lack of fans the whole club has just seen this season as a write off. I would argue had fans been present our performance and results at home would’ve been better- certainly our approach would have been more on the front foot. Our transfer dealings have a nod to the future and the lack of striker coming in suggests we are looking to next season. Sadly this attitude has now clearly spread to the players- many of who look like they couldn’t give a fuck.
We will slide down the table and finish in a similar position to last 2 seasons.
This, to me, is ridiculous given the position we were in - indeed we are still in with an outside play off chance.
You can’t miss opportunity in football.
But, like I say, we are not in the stadium and the pressure that’s normally these from a demanding fan base is ignored. The local press are so pro the club that there’s no challenge to what’s gone on.
Sadly a few years of mid table championship plodding await.

For me , I wrote the season off once the first attempt at getting fans back into the stadium fell .. abject despair doesn’t come close to my feelings back then , or even now , believe me I’d made serious enquiries and even more serious budgeting contingencies to hopefully enable me ( and a couple of others ) see at least as many home games as possible had attended games resumed as first hoped . .it wasn’t to be..the season has therefore been about staying safe physically and mentally
Therefore left in the quandary of whilst not wanting Stoke to fail , or lose , but not going would have the sweetner of not having missed a promotion ..I agree it’s not a very positive thing to cling to ...time will tell
For the club as a whole I see it’s been about ensuring our club safe existence , without severe issues , hopefully meaning we can resume with crowds and the Coates family still at the helm ..some of those survival plans have clearly impacted on signings and indeed more importantly than that I understand some staff being moved to Bet365 for the duration , hopefully that’s a temporary accounting measure , helping both the club and ensuring people on ‘normal’ wages don’t have the worry of where or when their next wage packet is coming from .. those that doubt Coates and indeed Scholes ( and the staff involved ) would be best to realise there’s probably been some very difficult finance , HR meetings these past 12 months ..the Coates will sort it , doesn’t just happen automatically without humanity and indeed a great degree of community spirit and negotiation
Playing staff , some especially the younger players will hopefully have actually benefitted from BCD games ..less outward pressure for every mistake ..though BCD doesn’t necessarily help all players , we’ve seen that from some very strange results throughout all leagues ..some players undoubtedly perform better with the pressure of a crowd ..which is why even the young players may not have fully beniffetted
Still strange times , but hopefully light at the end of the tunnel..even if at times that light has proven to only be another train coming ..here’s to 2021/22

I agree with the OP. If crowds were allowed at the moment, the gates would be poor, and I'd be looking forward to a home game like a trip to the dentist.
But if crowds were allowed, who would have been venting their feelings of late, would we have seemingly raised the white flag mid season?

We might aswel give up then and only sign players that are 100% sure to succeed, do they exist..... Well that's the problem we find ourselves in isn't it? Who, and Where are these affordable decent strikers? Nobody is giving up, only a handful of supporters who need a reality check. It doesn't help if you don't cast your net wider. How much did Pukki cost Norwich?

It is a perennial problem with Stoke, Lou was within a whisker of getting promotion to Div 1 and required a striker to ensure promotion and nothing happened. Not only that, Pesch was sold while Leicester were strengthening. Another Coates masterstroke.

Despite some decent results when Campbell was fit weve been very mediocre. Its nothing safety first football, reminiscent of TP at his absolute worst. Absolutely nothing to get excited about.
