I've just seen this question posed on twitter and nobody seems to really have a definitive answer.
My guess would be Coventry (when playing in Coventry), Burton, Birmingham or Villa.

Somewhere in my head says Leicester is the furthest British city from the sea, so I would guess the furthest league ground would be around the west of Leicester somewhere. It also depends how you define "sea." Do you measure from tidal waters or the actual coast?

I studied at University of Leicester and they used to say they were the furthest university from the sea (weird brag I know). So guessing it must be Leicester

I think this is a trick question. West Brom's Hawthorns ground is clearly the furthest from the sea, though in a vertical direction!
It is understood that the ground, at an altitude of 551 feet (168 m), is the highest ground above sea level of all Premier League and Football League clubs.
It might well also claim the "furthest" description by distance as well.

i think it is the ricoh arena in coventry. ~ 90 miles, although they are of course playing at st andrews at the moment, so not sure if that counts.

So that would suggest Leicester's ground would be the correct answer to the original question. |
