Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck , fuck, fuck...fuck, fuck fuck fuck, fuck fuck fuck Mad fucking Nathan reallly did fuck us over. At least Pericard tried (sometimes) Galling isn’t it? And with wasters like Wimmer, Bauer, and Ince also drawing silly money out of the club for doing fuck all it’s a miracle we are where we are. We won’t fully be able to move on and improve until these leaches are gone.

It was an horrendous penalty - rushed and careless.
It cost us 3 points.

During his time at Burnley I believe he took 9 penalties and scored all 9. Since coming here he's taken 2 and missed both. Whatever the reason for this sudden change in form, I'm sure the rumours about a Malaysian gambling ring are entirely without foundation.

Total shite. He didn’t even try to deceive the keeper. Hit it waist height to his favoured right hand side. Keeper clean caught it. Practically the kind of kick the under 14 coach gives to warm up the keeper before junior matches. Exactly the type of penalty and out of form/low on confidence striker takes. I still say Powell should take some responsibility, as a senior player and a damn good penalty taker no one should have been getting that ball off him..... Pretty cowardly really tbh

Did Vokes take one at Leeds? Yep pretty sure Vokes scored the first. I think Duffy, Etebo, Clucas and Butland took the others? Was trying to remember the one he scored. That will be it. Side footed to the keepers left. The 3 he's missed he's tried to hit across the keeper to his right. Idiot. Of all the players we have, he's the one I absolutely can't stand. Even his flailing left arm as he runs drives me nuts. Absolutely shite.

My first thought when Sam stepped up to take it was, "wasn't he one of them who was taking them when we couldn't score a penalty to save our lives?"

Take your vokes hating glasses off, it wasn't a bad penalty, it was a standard, average one. A bad peno is ademola lookman, no pun intended but look up that.

Look where the keeper is when he saves it! Absolutely shocking penalty, strikers in poor form should never take a penalty, they will almost always go cautious because just in case they miss the target.

Penalty placement in the PL/CH by Stoke since 2014. Three more hit the bar, one went miles over it. If you're hitting it low, you have to find the corners.

Don't go calling people cowards with no justification just because you are smarting over fatty missing, you have absolutley no idea why Vokes was allowed to take that pen.

On the Chadwick-Higginbotham scale I’d say it was about a 5....... Ahhh Danny Higginbotham. Now that is how you take a penalty. Just smash the fucker.

Professional penalty takers should know all about which way the keeper they are up against likes to dive, do you reckon Vokes had done his pre match research just in case he had his big moment? My guess would be... nah, can’t be arsed with that bollox, I’ll just pick up my £12k a week for least possible effort. BM It’s more like 30k ☹️ There are better players in the local leagues than this man, the person who signed this deal off should be fired.

Still hopping mad at Vokes today - no way should he have took it - who decided that? He was barely warmed up been on the pitch only a few minutes.
I though anyone but Vokes to smash it in and win the game.
What role does the captain have to step in and hand the ball to someone - MacClean or Powell to start with then maybe Smith.
What is it about Vokes that he thinks he is mentally ready at this point to take the kick - when he clearly wasn't - the guy's a fool to himself at best.
Vokes standing there you could tell he wasn't up to it - all very well someone saying out of form striker - give him a go and build his confidence - but the moment in a key game was too important for that.
Inevitably he fluffed it with a shot as weak as piss that the goalie easily read and barely had to move for.
No sly technique - no power - no placement
Baardiff's confidence goes sky high for the first time in the game and they go on to win as we fold.
Nothing to do with MON this down to the players on the pitch.
Three points completely thrown away injuries or no injuries
I hope MON gives both barrels to Vokes and maybe Powell for giving him the ball and maybe Chester for not stepping up and sorting it out.
Shambles

I think it's up there with the worst we've seen. It was just so shit and inevitably so. A chance to sew the game up and you go and hit a soft as shit penalty like that. Put your laces through it at least.

I'm still fuming now. I can only relate it to the flimsy effort that the current England Manager did against West Germany at Euro 96. Same lack of power and direction and at an easy height for the goally!

It was bloody awful. Do we have designated penalty takers ? Do they practice them ? Penalties at both ends of the pitch have been a nightmare at Stoke for years. I'm sure Vokes is high on that designated list, if it exists. But I'm almost certain that O'Neill stated at some point that it was always down to the men on the pitch to decide who was the best at the particular point when one is awarded. It seems Vokes was the only one who plucked up the courage. Mikel as acting captain might have taken it, but was missing.

If the goalkeeper is off his line when he takes it, shouldn't the penalty be re-taken Both feet about 2 foot off the line. He'd hopped forward before the ball is kicked. He didn't need to mind as it was such a piss poor penno but in the Prem with VAR that's retaken. The Lino should have spotted it. Hey ho.

Should never have taken it in the first. He had just come on and totally lacking in confidence because of past performances. Anyone but Vokes should have taken it.

In training up to a a couple of months ago Vokes hadn't missed a single penalty, he had 100% strike rate so I can see why he took it......
....but then Butland went to Crystal Palace.

Penalty taking is something they need to practice, when did we last score one?

It was an horrendous penalty - rushed and careless. It cost us 3 points. So collins totally miss-timing his jump at the back post to gift them a equaliser was irrelevant? For what it's worth, if VAR was involved last night, the penalty would have been retaken as the keeper was way off his line when Sam struck the ball.
