Well that second one worked out well for Cousins While Cousins had a few decent games for Stoke, I really hope posters will resist the temptation of turning him into some kind of footballing genius martyr and some kind of stick to beat our manager over the head with. While he may well have done marginally better than some of the others at times, I very much doubt he would have dramatically impacted on our plans for next season.

As long as I am manager, strange turn off phrase. Not really indeed standard manager speak

When he first appeared, everyone but none said what a shit signing he was, some improvement granted, but hardly a nailed on starter.

I wish MON would offer us some insight on the nature of the league we're in from time to time

As good as admitted that next season will be more of the same, pointing to FFP and buying power.

“As long as I am manager”??!! Not the phrase of a man believing in his own longevity in the job. This next game will be very telling about the attitude of the players. The whole Holden saga knocked the Birmingham and Millwall games off the front pages but reality returns now as our stalwarts suit up against PNE. Do they still have any interest in breaking a sweat for MON? Does MON have any interest in making them? Does he even know how? We’re about to find out.

Well that second one worked out well for Cousins I don't get the love in for Cousins. He's done his best and for about a month looked efficient but nothing spectacular, is definitely not going to be a Premier player, is too old to be one for the future and there are probably 10 a penny versions of him around the Football League and probably in the Academy. Why waste a precious wage and squad number on a player who for most of his time at Stoke was pilloried on here?

Angela’s tactics remain unchanged for the Preston game.

It could just easily mean he's planning on being our manager for the 20 years. There's no attitude problem with any players towards MON. They will be backing him up as much or less as they did last week, last month, and the every ones before. They are no doubt breathing a mighty sigh that they don't have to fight for anything much this season and they are looking forward to it being over, which could impact on their performance, but that's only natural.

I think the 'love in' over Jordan Cousins, as much as anything else, had been that in a season where our midfielders have been a disappointment, he, at least, had done what it says on the tin - protected the back four. His passing too, contrary to stereotype, has been pretty decent. We all know he's not a world-beater, just giving him some credit.
